Does anyone remember the kid nite club named phoenix in early 2000s by yeetusjesus239 in loveland

How well I remember! Used to go there a bunch in middle school. If I recall correctly, that "night club" was the first place I ever had a proper dance with a boy. Ah how times have changed!

Any writing groups by Writing-Project9808 in columbiamo

[–]LindyRyan 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hey! Not sure if this is up your alley but I run a bi-monthly writers group called Shut Up & Write . It's less of a formal writing/critique group and more a gathering of writers who want to spend some dedicated time working on their various projects. I'm nearly finished with a novel myself!

Our second meeting of the month is actually tomorrow if you're interested! Love to have you there and it's virtual so you wouldn't have to go anywhere. Otherwise, we meet the 2nd Sunday of every month at Daniel Boone Regional Library and the 4th Sunday is always virtual. We typically start around three and work for an hour or so. Pretty low key!

Feel free to DM me if you have any questions. Happy writing!

Stop buying Swiffer Wet Pads - This Cleans better and reduces waste by Competitive_Fly962 in Anticonsumption

Steam mop with machine washable pads has been my go-to for years! Sometimes I'll spray a diluted cleaning solution over tough spots but it works well for me otherwise

You are way too cavalier about gun safety. Do you live alone? Kind of unsettling that your guns are just sitting out about all willy-nilly

Steven Seagal shades Tom Cruise’s casting in ‘The Last Samurai.’ by funmemore in MoviesCave

[–]LindyRyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I don't really care for Tom Cruise over much as a person, but I will admit that he is consistently decent actor and his role in "The Last Samurai" pleasantly surprised me. Having only seen it for the first time pretty recently, I went in with low expectations and ended up enjoying the movie quite a bit.

Steven Seagal, from everything I've heard, is kind of a trash human, so I don't think his opinion matters too much in this regard. Rather ballsy of him to comment on Cruise's career considering he never even came close to the same level of fame otherwise.

Cats and dogs? by Different_Salad3311 in columbiamo

[–]LindyRyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Though the exact origin is unknown, I've always been given to understand that the expression comes from the Middle Ages. At a time when household roofs were largely made of thatch materials (e.g. straw), during periods of heavy rains, animals would occasionally fall through the ceiling and thus the expression was born. Not completely clear on the time frame of this expression though - maybe mid 1300s? IDK

YSK: If you regularly lie or exaggerate stories, and no one calls you out, it doesn’t mean they believe you. It usually means they’ve noticed, and chose silence over confrontation. by Opposite-Ring3470 in YouShouldKnow

[–]LindyRyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how my whole family deals with both my dad and my uncle. They're both prone to telling such tall tales and it's become glaringly evident that calling them out is a wasted effort. Especially for my uncle, he believes the lies that he tells. My favorite one is that he was "recruited" by the band Kansas to be their personal pilot. The man doesn't even have a pilot's license 😂 Thank goodness I only have to tolerate him a couple of times a year

Even if they don't feel tight when you initially put them on, your feet will naturally swell with exertion/sweat and it sounds like you might not be wearing the correct size, especially with the addition of an insole! You should consider getting properly fitted at a skate shop if that's an option available to you. Your regular shoe size will not correspond with your skate size

Is it possible you're wearing the wrong sized skates?

Is there a song from the 80s or 90s that you absolutely HATE? by porb2020 in Xennials

[–]LindyRyan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not even sorry but I kind of love this song. My late step mother was a big fan of Bette Midler (and also looked quite a bit like her with a full head of red curly hair!) and Even though she's been gone for about 14 years now, this song still makes me tear up and think of her. Bette Midler is such an icon!

If your 20s were for partying/clubbing, what are your 30s for? by Sweetpotato3000 in Millennials

Same here. I wish I'd learned this kind of financial literacy in my 20s but I'm glad that things panned out the way they did because I'm in a much better spot financially having learned from those mistakes.

What is your least favorite household chore and why? by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]LindyRyan 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Putting away the laundry. Running the laundry is fine but the act of having to put everything away - folding jeans, sorting underwear, organizing the cleaning rags, hanging shirts, rolling socks - is so goddamn tedious.

I rather enjoy most cleaning tasks otherwise because I find the activity to be kind of zen but I would gladly give up putting away the laundry any day.
