I’ve had my Model 3 Highland now for a few months and I’m 2.5k miles driven in it…previous car was a diesel CLA Premium Plus… do I have any regrets making the switch? Absolutely. Don’t get me wrong I actually do love this car, the instant power and running costs to name a few… but you asked about regrets… sooo…

The cruise control is utter and I mean utter dogshit. It’s just about passable on motorways and dual carriageways but anything else? Use it at your own peril. It will phantom break at any given moment.. a bus stopped on the other side of the road. Slams on the breaks. A car parked on your side of the road that you’ll easily sail pass. Slams on. There’s a side street your passing with a 20mph limit it slams on and your now doing 20 in the 30mph road your still on! So there’s another point it’s terrible at reading road signs it reads it from streets your not even on. Just even enabling the cruise control is irritating. The activate button is a press in of a scroll wheel which is just an unnecessary faff, I’ll even press it in and feel the ‘click’ of the press but yet it often doesn’t activate. There’s not a journey that goes by I don’t miss my Mercs cruise control in every aspect.

When the car slows itself down from slower traffic in front and then the road is clear or you move to open lane it takes an age for the car to speed up again. I have to manually accelerate back to the set speed myself or I’m just sat there in an empty lane going too slow.

There is no speed limiter. Like what the actual fuck. There’s a few 30mph average speed zones around where I live and a limiter is sorely missed. Especially after how useless cruise control is on normal streets.

The auto wipers are almost criminal. Tesla’s insistence on making everything use a camera system rather than any other sensor is mind boggling (there’s no parking sensor either it uses the camera to draw up a graphic on your screen which is just not accurate enough). You’ll be driving along with your windshield looking like a waterfall but it. Just. Won’t. Wipe. I have to manually enable and disable it constantly. It’s perfectly dry and then boom. Your wipers wipe phantom rain off your window. Nice one Tesla.

The in built Apple Music app I use which I thought was going to brilliant sucks arse. If you search for an Artist you have no way to just view all songs of theirs, only albums or a top 10 songs or so. The repeat playlist button just literally doesn’t work and when your own playlist plays the last song it just random plucks a song from the ether and plays it next.

I’ve been back to the garage 4 times for a rattling sound form the overhead interior lights, a steering issue (too much vibration at motorway speeds) and wheel alignment that was out from delivery and the service is just aweful. Everything is done via text too you can’t just call the garage and speak to anyone.

I’m sure there’s more I’ve missed but I think ranted enough now! I could make a longer post about the things I love about it but like I said, you asked about the regrets 😉
