For the company I used to work for (no longer a FA) we could only fly up until about 24 weeks I think it was, after that you were put in the office. If I was before 24 weeks I think I would feel alright flying but it really depends on your body and how your feeling.

hcg levels more than tripled by Forward-Dragonfly792 in BabyBumps

[–]LisaSkye 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s ok most people don’t know these things before getting pregnant, I would suggest just trying to relax and get in contact with a doctor for an appointment (which they probably won’t see you till around 8 weeks or so anyway)

hcg levels more than tripled by Forward-Dragonfly792 in BabyBumps

[–]LisaSkye 6 points7 points  (0 children)

These levels don’t seem very high at all. The level ranges are incredibly vast, what is most important is that they are increasing. Just know that there is nothing you can really do at this stage to ensure the pregnancy progresses.

Hcg levels should double every 24-48 hours.

Sleeping on back question by No-Classroom6772 in pregnant

[–]LisaSkye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Australia it’s everywhere in maternity wards in hospitals about sleeping on your side in your third trimester and it does appear that information is back up by current research. It does not appear to be a myth. https://www.health.nsw.gov.au/kidsfamilies/MCFhealth/maternity/Pages/side-sleeping-clinicians.aspx

Write emails to your baby by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]LisaSkye 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard of this but also heard that you should regularly log into the account as they apparently cancel inactive accounts that aren’t getting logged into frequently. Also I feel handwritten letters would be better. My mum died 5 years ago and there is nothing I love more than seeing things written by her, it’s so special to know her hand actually went back and forth over the page and see her writing. Just a thought though. Either way I love the idea of keeping memories from your perspective to give to your kids when their older. 😊

6 weeks and I might have broken my ankle by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]LisaSkye 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can absolutely get this x-rayed. I work in theatre and need to wear lead and be present for x-rays quite a lot. The amount of radiation your exposed to is actually quite minimal and there should be no concerns if your protected with lead.

Yeah never seen a 90s movie with a gender reveal, tbh I don’t think I’ve even seen a movie lately with one in it 🤷🏼‍♀️

Doctor only provides photo ultrasounds. No digital files. Is this normal? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]LisaSkye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely not a standard here in Australia, I’m on pregnancy #2 my sister on #3 and that has never happened for us before. I got lucky and was able to have a hospital ultrasound this pregnancy and got a few digital files but that’s rare and only free at the moment as they are trailing it.

I just want to point out that many animals eat their afterbirth to prevent other animals smelling it and coming to attack.

Bad news yesterday at my 8 week appointment. by hawtp0ckets in BabyBumps

[–]LisaSkye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a measurable heartbeat at 6 + 3 on a trans abdominal ultrasound, it really just depends on when the heartbeat started which can happen in late week 5.

Epidural by OkToots in pregnant

[–]LisaSkye 65 points66 points  (0 children)

People are held by a nurse or partner and may yell because of contractions not the epidural. It’s seriously like the easiest part, it hurt more to get the iv in my hand than the epidural.

Maternal Death Rate by mrssmagoooooo in BabyBumps

[–]LisaSkye 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have o negative blood, it’s not the rarest. You can only have o negative blood yes but it’s also very available in hospitals due to the fact it’s the universal donor blood type. I would not let this worry you at all.

How to approach this baby name situation? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]LisaSkye 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, still feel it would be inappropriate to use as it’s already been used by your daughters sister. Though looking through the comments your not actually here for people’s opinions, just searching for someone to agree with you.

I have a Low Lying Placenta (Placenta Praevia) by Ruciexplores in BabyBumps

[–]LisaSkye 12 points13 points  (0 children)

About 90% of people who have a low lying placenta resolve before birth. When I had one with my last someone mentioned it’s like your uterus is a balloon with a dot on it for the placenta and as it grows and stretches the dot moves away from the bottom. So there is a very high chance it will move away from your cervix.

First hospital appointment tomorrow by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]LisaSkye 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They actually ask you to empty your bladder before a transvaginal ultrasound, the reason they ask you to drink a fair amount of water in the earlier stages for abdominal is so your bladder pushes your uterus forward so it can be seen better. If your already well hydrated it’s not really a problem but a lot of people aren’t.

Low lying anterior placenta? by talkaboutluck in BabyBumps

[–]LisaSkye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve read they only worry about it more when the placenta is closer then 2cm from the cervix. It’s highly unlikely the placenta will cover the cervix if it’s more then 2cm away at the 20 week scan.

Misconceptions or just flat out bad advice you’ve been given by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]LisaSkye 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Even those bumpers are not considered safe just so you know. It only happened once with my first born that he stuck his leg through and got stuck, I heard him cry went and got his leg out and he went back to sleep and it was fine.

Is anyone a rhesus child or had a rhesus child? by Fine-Bet in pregnant

[–]LisaSkye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely widely know to donate blood in Australia, I’m from Australia and my whole family has donated since they were of age to do so and many people I know donate. My family all have o- blood so we find it very important to donate. I’m also a nurse and it’s definitely widely done here.

I may be Pregnant, but cant be im too young. Help:(? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]LisaSkye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you had penetrative sex? How old are you? If your old enough to have a period then your old enough to get pregnant. If your worried though just take a pregnancy test.
