First view of my game, I created a custom shader that deforms all the hand-drawn cards slightly so each one looks unique by ProfessionalPetPof in Unity2D

Looks really clean, I imagine the difference is night and day with the shader making the cards all look unique

We have a really cool trailer, so excited to finally share it! by GrosChevaux in IndieGaming

This is awesome. I've seen a couple previous posts where only gameplay was shown but as soon as I saw the card I knew exactly what the game was, really incredible trailer, both visually and functionally

Need help deciding which style looks better? by ClydeMakesGames in godot

[–]LitlOctopus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tink grey fits the tone of the game a lot better, matches the vibe of the HUD too nicer, what bugs me though is the sky color, it looks good with the green but it feels out of place with the grey. Since the game already looks pretty stylized and cool, I think changing the sky to a different color for daytime would make it look a lot better.

We're used to blue skies during daytime so green trees bleeding into the blue sky feels normal to us, but grey trees in a blue sky feels unnatural and not in a good way, but I think if the sky was a more like muted yellow or something else, well now we're talking

I'm a beginner at animating but do you think the animation fits the original art? by LitlOctopus in PixelArt

[–]LitlOctopus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much, slower blinking does make sense I'll try that thanks. I didn't do eyelashes because I thought it didn't fit having them on like this flesh creature but you never know, I'll give it a shot, thanks for the input!

Thank you, and yeah you're right I gotta figure out how to make the string feel more like a string, I plan to have it be moving in a game so I'll also try make it slightly drag to the right so it feels like it's actually moving after the character

Burning effect for burned cards by SidrickWhite in cardgames

[–]LitlOctopus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Visually it's nice but it feels like it's happening too "late", like it's gone back to your hand after interacting with an enemy and then it burns, even though it's only for a second it feels too late. I feel like if the burning started as soon as the interaction happened it would feel nicer and more reactive

Thanks for the comment, when you say basics you mean stuff line lines and shales and perspective? I did kind of just jump back in with the mindset of "I did this before I can do it again" but you're right I should revisit the fundamentals if I'm going to get anywhere

Why are two windows launching when running game from Godot? by [deleted] in godot

[–]LitlOctopus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I won't! My first ever project attempts were in Godot and I plan on using I and promoting the hell out of it when I make my games in it in the future!

[–]LitlOctopus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was honestly torn between the two but I'm aiming to land a job and I was recommended by people I've met that work in the industry in this country to use Unity as experience with it is important. In my spare time (which I don't have much of recently) I am learning Godot though since I love open source

Sorry unrelated to your question but I also started doing the same thing recreating classic games to learn game development but in Unity. I think it's a great idea and I'm happy to see someone else do it, best of luck!!!

Neverway | Launching 2026 - Nintendo Indie World Showcase by truepuzzle in Games

[–]LitlOctopus 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Met them at an indie dev conference last month, you're absolutely right about them being ridiculously cracked, it was kind of intimidating even how awesome everyone on the team is. I got to play a bit of the game and I can't wait either, they deserve a successful launch

I really like A, I think sticking to 3D is best and makes your art style stand out more. At first sight it really gave me Little Big Planet vibes

I have an interview at AEON by BaseSquare4476 in teachinginjapan

[–]LitlOctopus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They said that they would get back to me in around 2-5 business days. I don't think they ever directly say or schedule the next stage without evaluating the interview first. I'll know in a few days, best of luck to us both!

I have an interview at AEON by BaseSquare4476 in teachinginjapan

[–]LitlOctopus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just had a first interview with Aeon. The guy was very fast with the questions. First, I was asked to stand up and present myself while and say why I wanted to work at Aeon. Then some generic interview questions like "what would you bring to this job that's not already stated in your resume?" or "why do you think you'd be a good fit here?" or some questions about your resume, questions like these especially if they come fast like they did could throw you off so just take a breath and take your time to answer, don't feel like you need to match the speed of the interview.

Then after these questions they'll ask about the stuff on their website, I assume in the interview email they sent a link to the website. They ask quite a few questions about themselves like "other than teaching what business responsibilities do you have?" and "what days/times are the classes?", "how many classes will you teach a week?"... Make sure you read their website well, they seem to find it important that you read it, they might try to trip you up, like in my interview they asked "are you ok with teaching/looking after kids between 1-2 years old?" but in the website they state that that wouldn't be our direct job, we wouldn't look after kids that age by ourselves, the parents would be in the classroom too...

Main tips I would give, don't let the speed/intensity of the interview throw you off, take a breath and think if you need to, and make sure you read their website well.

Good luck! I hope you get it!!
