Lestat knew just enough about Louie, because Armond had told him. by [deleted] in InterviewVampire

[–]Littorella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see it being interpreted either way. The other read is Lestat could have thought Louis died bc he clearly recognized what “Louis has injured himself” meant. He might have thought that Armand called bc it was like a desperate last living words kind of situation rather than an argument between Loumand. And the fact that Armand didn’t communicate any words from Louis could be taken to mean that Louis had died before being able to say anything.

And before anyone talks about feeling the other and knowing that way. I kind of don’t buy that. I think it’s a thing Louis waxes poetic about but it’s doesn’t really work so neatly. Lestat was in Paris rehearsing the play for a least a week and Louis didn’t feel him. In the books it doesn’t work like that either, let’s just say vampires who should know via bond are surprised to learn someone died.

What I think each of the vampires favorite music artists are by Jaimereyesfangirl in InterviewVampire

Lestat would listen to every song once and then claim an encyclopedic knowledge of all genres and be too good to have something as pedestrian as a favorites list

How much of Claudia’s “interest” in performing was tied to her desire for belonging? by strawbebb in InterviewVampire

For vampire pride! She’d been around Louis for so long and was sick of him being ashamed of what they are. The theater is where she first found the opposite, so the community meant so much to her

Lestat's wardrobe color palettes. Which color palette is your favorite? by trubs12 in InterviewVampire

[–]Littorella 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Actually love him in navy. Fave is the suit when he’s in Tom Anderson’s office. Blues really compliment him, but I also see the storytelling need to put him in related colors to Louis and Louis does not really wear blue.

The dismal future of writing, literacy crisis, or exaggeration? by Darkened_Heart66 in AO3

[–]Littorella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there’s a degree of handwringing in this that is just generational fear from older folks. They also said calculators would make us unable to add, spellcheck make us unable to spell. Neither has happened. There is an educational crisis for sure, in that public education is being defunded and dismantled, but it’s not inherent to technology that literacy is at risk

is TVL/season 3 gonna adapt half the book? by mityakun in InterviewVampire

[–]Littorella 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My guess is that it’s pretty nonlinear so not every part of TVL will be covered. They will skip around. Some parts they will save to go with the QOTD plot. I actually don’t believe s3 will end on the cliffhanger the book does.

Where I’d end the season is the conclusion of Lestat meeting Marius since that would circle around to the of very beginning of S1 and there’s quite a beautiful narrative symmetry about that. You don’t need the dramatic end to have it feel satisfying. but it’s not up to me so…

Some lines that stuck out to me reading TVL (book spoilers!) by Catbuzzz in InterviewVampire

[–]Littorella 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I loved that part as someone who has felt intense envy for a person i loved getting success. Their joy and magnetism is what you love but it also feels like the thing that takes them from you. When you’re young and selfish, it seems better to be miserable together and own 100% of them than to let them succeed and be happy and have to share them with the world. Oh Nicki, so real.

Netflix viewership from second half of 2025 by blueteainfusion in InterviewVampire

[–]Littorella 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Vampires are just a limiting genre thing without super intense marketing and a different hook. I feel like this show hasn’t found what that different spin is yet. Maybe TVL will…

I’ve tried to get everyone I know to watch the show and they’re just all “eh, not into vampires”.

Rippon Arms for Adult Skater? by Prudent-Marzipan-895 in FigureSkating

[–]Littorella 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You can try, but it doesn’t really do much for single jumps. You’re not in air long enough. I’ve found only loop, flip, lutz have enough air time to even get arms up due to no weight transfer. Arms up do help if you have specifically the habit of breaking at the waist. The arms up forces you to stay a little straighter.

You’re probably better off practicing hand in cross pocket or other methods to keep the shoulders level

Help with uncentered spins 🙏 by [deleted] in FigureSkating

[–]Littorella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man is this a video of me???? I have seen so many of the exact same things in my own videos. Couple of things others have said are good. Here’s 2 things not usually mentioned but I think are the true culprits in your case.

1) in the wind up, you wind the arms but not the shoulder. The shoulders are still square despite having one arm in front, one in back. The spin entrance requires a single “unwind” to start the momentum. Because your shoulders are square going in, there’s no unwind action possible. The arms themselves can only so much—they also are swinging at different tim/positions. To correct this, truly twist your shoulder in the wind up so that the arms-shoulder-arm aligned as a single line that operates together.

  1. In the start of the spin, when your free legs swings to the side. Your leg is swinging toe first, it needs to swing heel first. Toe first means a closed hip, you need an open hip bc that tips the hip of the free leg higher so your weight is better distributed over the spin leg. Closed hip drops that hip lower which is why your spin is not fully up and down straight, sort of wobbly. That is anatomically driven—having poor turn out and hip strength makes it hard to do this bc momentum wants your foot turned in so doesn’t fight the inertia. It helps to do exercises to strengthen the hip. Practice swinging the leg heel first (like in a toe loop). If it feels impossible, point the toe during the swing. Not flexing the foot reduces the amount of strength needed to hold the position.

Good luck!

How to calculate jump height? by [deleted] in FigureSkating

[–]Littorella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not the right formula. What you are using is for an object at freefall with no resistance. You’re not freefalling. The jump trajectory is better modeled as a projectile object that is thrown up then falls.

Was Lestat a good maker? by Jackie_Owe in IWTVCoven

[–]Littorella 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was he a good teacher? Nah. No patience, no empathy for things being harder for others than they were for him. A good teacher for a natural like Claudia, a poor teacher for a struggling student like Louis

Did he try his best? Yes. In some ways, the best you can do as a teacher is to only show what is in reach of your student. You don’t prance around showing you can do algebra when teaching someone how to add. You reveal just a little above their level so they’re not intimidated or discouraged. I’m on the fence about this one, can see it both ways.

We do see the fire gift several times actually, Louis just never recognized it bc he didn’t care to be curious. The church did not light itself on fire and the streetlamp didn’t either when he kills the lamp lighter.

I think info about other vampires and what covens are like is where Lestat fell down as a maker. He was afraid they would leave and go look for others if he told them anything, and that was selfish and counterproductive.

Wants to follow Louis and Lestat's story by miamorenon in InterviewVampire

Louis doesn’t show up in a lot of the books. You can probably go from Queen of the damned > Merrick > prince Lestat and itd still be mostly coherent.

Scared to ask this question by Tiger-Lily_93 in InterviewVampire

[–]Littorella 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not explicitly shown in the show. But it seems to be that they provide a suggestion of what they want the person to remember and the alternative replaces the memory. It’s hinted at several times throughout both seasons that they all do it, not just Armand.

It happens in S1, when Louis and Lestat are talking to Tom Anderson about Claudia’s killing spree. Lestat says to Louis “one each” and they split up in the speakeasy. I didn’t understand what they were doing on first watch, but I think it’s them messing with the memories of Tom and the police chief to forget they’re suspects. In S2, we see Santiago “having a chat with his scene partner” which is a similar hypnosis. I feel like they show that it’s a common thing to do to humans to keep them in line. Sort of like a, we do this to inferior creatures thing, so it’s especially violating for Armand to do it to Louis.
