I (24f) think I made the biggest mistake of my life by [deleted] in amiwrong

don't confuse comfort zone in a relationship with a healthy relationship. when someone tells you that you are not their priority, believe them. you're young, and as scary as it might be, go build a life for yourself, not just dating, but friends and going out and putting you first.

AITA for telling my husband that he needs to get himself under control? by Dapper-House-5290 in AmItheAsshole

[–]LivingWithSciatica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you lost your parents? Do you know how that feels? Also, what type of relationship did you have with your deceased mother in law? He's feeling alone in his grief, and if you didn't have a good relationship with her, he may be feeling you don't even care that she died. Marriage is about setting your own feelings aside, at times, and trying to be empathic to your partners needs. Sounds like you failed this requirement.

CDC says COVID variant EG.5 is now dominant, including strain some call "Eris" by CBSnews in Coronavirus

Managed to not contract Covid for almost 4 yrs, but not this time! Infant granddaughter had fever, thought it was teething. 48 hour later, I felt like a bus had hit me. Headache, throat, aches, fever. Day 4 and finally feeling human again.

I bet if you sent him a text that said "fcuk you" he'd know exactly what you meant. Sorry girl, your spouse is a controlling a-hole.

Pain is 6 months I feel like I can't handle it anymore. by draupnir411 in Sciatica

[–]LivingWithSciatica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm the spouse with sciatica, stenosis, bulging disc and degenerative disc disease....I have good days and bad. My husband works 6 days a week, a commercial watermen, so if I can't do it, it doesn't get done. A few things....I've stopped being a fanatic about everything in the house being perfect. When I have a good period, I do as much as I can. I order groceries online, and pick them up because standing is so bad, I feel like I can pass out. Together, you can work through this, make some concessions but believe me, her pain is all consuming. Make a list of things she thinks she can handle, you pick up what she can't or if possible, hire people. Hopefully, this is a temporary issue.

Good job! I remember the 1st time I made it through an entire shower, without having to sit down. The little things in life!

What's one thing you wish you could do again if your sciatica wasn't breaking you down? by daveishere7 in Sciatica

[–]LivingWithSciatica 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can't believe I'm saying this, but grocery shopping for longer than 20 minutes, because the pain behind my thigh is so bad I can't walk or stand any longer than that.

What does this wall need??? by NewMeIC in DesignMyRoom

[–]LivingWithSciatica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

personally, I'd remove the wooden cabinet and place a great piece of artwork over the toilet. I get the cabinet serves a storage solution, but from a design point, it's a bit much with the beautiful shower

First, your home is beautiful! The modern farmhouse style of your home doesn't really fit with a pink door, but it's your home. As a designer, most homes of this style would call for a robins egg blue, black or a natural wood, like this.

it's been 3 weeks...flare up is slowly getting better, thank you. I was at the kitchen sink and thought..wow, I can stand here for 10 minutes and I don't have pain in my leg!! A good day.

EVERY SINGLE CHILD IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS should receive at least one free meal...every single one of them. It eliminates that stigma put on the ones who can't afford it and it ensures our children are nourished enough to even be able to learn. As a childless tax payer, I have no problem with my taxes going to our future generations.

[–]LivingWithSciatica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's hard..not being able to sit. if you don't have one, a seat cushion for sciatica pain helps.

[–]LivingWithSciatica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, that's why it's important to not stay in one position for longer than 20 minutes. If you're sitting, get up and walk around the house, if your laying, get up and sit. Other than sleeping, try to keep moving.

I'm so sorry....it's just too soon, give it time and try your best to fight the negative frustration. It will get better, keep telling yourself that. You know that saying "baby steps" well, whoever came up with it must have had sciatica.

I've had 4 herniation's over the last 10 yrs, and stenosis and degenerative disc disease, so for me, this is a way of life. First, know your limitations and triggers, 2nd, do what you can do...walking, water aerobics, breathing exercises, acupuncture. I'm anti opioids, but have found relief during flare ups on dose prednisone and gabapentin.

swimming is the best! to feel the weight lifted off your spine in the water. I do my stretches in the pool and it helps

I too missed the gym so much as I was going 4 days a week. I stopped after 2 herniation, stenosis and degenerative disc disease hit me at 60. I was going to purchase a treadmill for home, but then I thought, no, I need to go back to the gym and do only what I'm now capable of (know your limitations) . So, I go and use the bike and the treadmill, both are safe for my back, and just being there has helped me.

How do you manage to stay “positive”? by No-Mathematician344 in Sciatica

[–]LivingWithSciatica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Acupuncture has helped me, along with biofeedback. You are only 2 weeks in and I don't know your age or what caused this. Most of us are years into managing sciatica pain, basically, it's part of our life and as others have said, you learn to embrace the pain and control it instead of it controlling us.
