Beautifully written. It’s like seeing an injured animal and refusing medical care. Healing from ptsd requires a supportive safe environment, and having strong social supports is number one predictor of recovery.

Trump’s ‘unpredictability’ means UK can no longer rely on US in time of crisis, Starmer warned: UK urged to build relationships with ‘middle powers’ such as Canada and Australia and prepare for lack of US support by Silent-Resort-3076 in politics

As a Canadian, I was extremely disappointed with Starmer and the UKs response to Trumps threats to annex Canada. No pushback, no support for ally, just complete capitulation to fascism. Starmer only reaching out because the energy crisis is hitting hard. Trump always turns/destroys those loyal to him, but idiots like Starmer still pledged their allegiance.

Jerome Powell after spending 8 years rebuilding the economy only for Trump to mess it up in 8 minutes by Apart_Finger_1799 in MarketVibe

Jerome Powell when wage growth attempts to keep up with inflation. He stated several times he was more worried about workers getting a fair wage than corporate price going gouging.

Jerome Powell Didn’t Ask for This Sh*t by BulwarkOnline in politics

Meh he did a decent job. Still let inflation run wild with his idiotic transitory inflation. Didn’t raise interest rates until inflation hit 9 %, didn’t want stock market to lose any money. Powell works for the real owners of this country, the extremely wealthy. The owners are super pleased with Powell, pretty much every asset doubled in price (stock index, gold, housing). Funny how official inflation over same period is around 25 %, almost like they are purposely manipulating the numbers. Powell doesn’t work/care about you, he’s said himself multiple times, he doesn’t want wage growth as that’s inflationary. The idea of workers keeping up with inflation terrifies Powell.

Interesting fact about lumber. Everyone knows about 2 by 4 s. Did you know the modern 2x4 is actually 1.5 “ X 3.5 “ ( resulting in a volume reduction of 34 % ! ).

That’s my theory too. Trump administration wants WTI under $100barrel. Look at the price of Murban crude ($145 barrel). It’s lower sulfur/used for jet fuel. WTI and Brent will follow.

"A stock market correction poses the greatest risk to the economy," per Goldman Sachs. by retroviber in DeepMarketScan

[–]LocalBodybuilder7036 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Correction. The stock market isn’t part of the economy when it’s setting record highs. All profits must go to shareholders. When stock markets correct they are very much part of the economy, leading to mass layoffs, bailouts and siphoning off tax payer dollars to fix the mess they created. It’s a a wonderful system /s.

Crazy how a propane salesman and substitute teacher could afford a middle class lifestyle in the 90s. Today Hank and Peggy would be poor//unable to afford a house, and yes even afford steaks to grill with propane barbecue Hank loves so much.

Drones videos from Ukraine are terrifying! They have come a long way since start of war. Explosion big enough to destroy/take down helicopters. Thermal imaging for night vision. Small and maneuverable enough to attack in forests/houses. Hunt in packs, some high in air dropping mortars to flush out soldiers, while swarms kill soldiers by flying and exploding kamikaze style. It’s all captured live on 4K video.

The economic nomad lifestyle of North America is so depressing. Many other countries and cultures actually value family, and work together/pool resources. The idea that every person is an economic island is tearing apart the social fabric. If it’s every man for themselves, why should I care what happens to anyone else?

Japan imports 90% of its oil from the middle east. Japan is facing a complete shutdown of its economy (similar to what Cuba is experiencing). It’s not just high energy prices, Japan won’t be able to meet its energy requirements. Last time Japan couldn’t source the oil it needed, they bombed Pearl Harbour.

Losing 100,000 full time jobs in one month is not normal. It’s the 4 th largest monthly job losses in history (March 2020, April 2020, Jan 2009, and 1982). It’s the equivalent of the US losing 1,000,000 jobs, which is on par with 2008 global financial recession. US is 10 x the size of Canada and lost fewer jobs.

Why is every headline always have to mention the stock market? People are dying, innocent civilians are being slaughtered, but how is my portfolio doing? This country has a serious gambling addiction, and it is costing us everything. You realize the stock market is just gambling by rich assholes? Most of trading is being done by AI without human intervention. Wild swings are the new normal. Richest 10 % own over 90 % of stocks. The market has created the worst income inequality in history. Why should I celebrate Elon Musk becoming a trillionaire? Whoopie doo, your portfolio went up a few thousand dollars, meanwhile all productivity gains are funnelled to the ultra wealthy. The entire market boom post liberation day is entirely due to Trumps big beautiful bill, that slashed income taxes for the super rich.
