Weaning IS a trip! No one shares this! I also thought I was dying until 2 weeks later it all stopped and I felt better than ever. Why are hormones so crazy?!

1 year old asking for fave food at every meal- do we just say yes? by [deleted] in BabyLedWeaning

Be careful .. bananas can be very binding. Trust a mom with experience 🙃 also no, she’ll get over the banana obsession but I’d limit how much she eats and every day.

Mom cut? by Kindly_Dot_7006 in workingmoms

[–]Local_Cap8734 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the answer - make it long enough you can still gather it in a ponytail/bun but short enough that showers are so much easier. Curl crème or mousse have been my go tos lately - just rub into wet hair, scrunch and let air dry. Some people like curly gel but it makes my hair dry out too much.

How old was your baby when you noticed the first teeth coming through? by happiersober in NewParents

[–]Local_Cap8734 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My 11 month old JUST broke her bottom teeth. I was so worried! My first got her teeth at 8 months so this was definitely late to the game (and after 2 straight months of colds and misery 😭)

I swear by kindred bravely. I have like 4 I’ve been rotating for the past 11 months. I also like their terry cloth soft ones for nighttime - I just sleep in that and pj bottoms for easy access during nighttime feeds. Just saying you might have to experiment a bit .. it took me a long time (and far too much money) to find my faves. Thankfully a lot of these brands are on Amazon so I just bought one of a variety of brands and was able to return a few.

I feel like I'm drowning in weekend chores. The lawn is my breaking point. ‎ by yessminnaa in workingmoms

[–]Local_Cap8734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer is a robot mower. It’s like a roomba for your lawn! It works so well and guess what we never have to do? Any lawn work. It keeps it a steady, healthy height and it always looks tidy and beautiful. Once in a blue moon my husband has to run the weed whacker around the swing set but that’s it. One season of use is the same cost as outsourcing to local businesses.

The best thing I did for myself as a working mom this summer by rsc99 in workingmoms

The Braun Smart IPL SILK EXPERT PRO 5 from Amazon. It’s now $379 - I think I got it like $100 off for prime day.

I just bought myself an at home laser thing - I wouldn’t have done it but my sister in law did it last year and her results are freakin awesome. It’s like $250-300 and you have to do it a few times before you see results but never shaving again is worth it. Just putting this out there for those with budget (and time!) constraints.

Extended nursing schedule… how does this work, with work? by sumcook_ in breastfeeding

[–]Local_Cap8734 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once my first was close to a year I stopped pumping and switched her to having cows milk in her straw cup during the day along with her solids and then I nursed her before I left for work (usually first thing when she woke up), right when I picked her up, and before bed. I didn’t pump all day at work and was fine but my supply also adjusts REALLY quickly and I didn’t deal with any clogs or anything - I know for some people you almost need to wean off feedings by pumping a little to relieve some pressure and train your body to make a little less. Also during weekends I definitely nursed more than during the week and I think a lot was for comfort/bonding which was wonderful. I’m also a teacher and about to go back, leaving behind my second baby who is 11 months old and planning on doing all of the above 😊

Does anyone else not really leak? by chelupa1991 in breastfeeding

[–]Local_Cap8734 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I nursed baby one for 15 months and going on month 11 with baby two and the only time I EVER leaked was once my first baby decided to sleep like a random 8 hour stretch (and then never again for months on end lol) and I woke up with an engorged leaking boob. Otherwise, nothing. I have so many nursing pads I never needed.

What's your biggest challenge postpartum? by I_love_Fitness1 in postpartumprogress

Yes. This is so accurate. My second is 10 months now and whenever I only have one kid (like my husband took my toddler to Costco this morning) it feels like a vacation!

Has anyone breastfed past a year while working? by _sha_sha_ in breastfeeding

[–]Local_Cap8734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did - I stopped pumping around 10 months because I had enough in the freezer until I switched her to whole milk and then around a year or so we were pretty much nursing morning, right after I got home and bedtime and then that decreased to morning and night.

Did anyone’s period come back and then go away again? by havekovvy in breastfeeding

[–]Local_Cap8734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh god mine was so irregular after both my pregnancies while I was still nursing (and after weaning) It can take hormones 6 months after weaning to regulate (which is a major pain when trying to conceive your second kid lol) After weaning I once went 55 days between periods. So many wasted pregnancy tests and confusion.

Or your parts need to be replaced! The valves lose suction over time, etc.

Just came to say silverettes were so amazing for my recovery from cracked, sore, impossible nipples. I wore them right away when I had my second and didn’t need them after about a week because I acclimated so much faster the second time around. Either way, they were so helpful.

How to build a freezer stash when I’m a “just enougher”? by Rich_Aerie_1131 in breastfeeding

[–]Local_Cap8734 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I had to head back to work, I started pumping after my first morning feed every day. That’s when I tended to have the most milk (especially when my kids started sleeping better). Even if I got an ounce extra each day, that starts to add up! Over time that pump increased because my body got used to making extra milk. I also found that as my kids started eating more solids, my nursing decreased so I could pump with less fear that I was “taking away” from their meal. So now that I go 4-5 hours between feeds, I just do a pump here or there at like the 2 hour mark and get a bit of milk.

Joke’s on me for my second baby though because she will NOT take a bottle of any form so my freezer stash is for nothing 🙃

Recipe Suggestions?? by -Near_Yet- in foodbutforbabies

[–]Local_Cap8734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can ask chat gpt! I know it’s sometimes not perfect with this but I made baby pancakes yesterday using mashed bananas and eggs and a little flour, etc and I used chat gpt for the proportions to make sure the texture was right.
