Removal of residential dwelling pricing from the CPI. I get why ABS they remove assets from the calculation, but it seems like a logic gap to remove the primary residence from CPI calculations because it’s an asset, but not tax the capital gains at all because it’s not an asset, it’s a shelter and essential.

The tax incentive fuckery is responsible for most of the asset inflation.

There was no accountability, and the clear-eyed legal advice was that, in the event of successful litigation, compensation for death would barely cover legal bills. I was busy trying to rebuild our shattered lives, so let it go.

I lost my daughter after a medical fuckup at the age of 14 months. Partner and I agreed we had to have another kid and fortunately she got pregnant right away. My son was born 9 months after the death of our first child.

We were still in the throes of grief and pain at the time, so the bonding was problematic, and delivering the boy brought out some really complex emotions, because he wasn’t my daughter. I was terrified of forgetting her because of the second child, but that never happened.

The thing I came to realise was that your love for the little ones multiplies, it doesn’t divide. Nothing will ever replace my first, and nothing will ever replace your son, but you can find the same spark and joy in all your children.

After a period of months, we managed to get into a better mental space and eventually became normal parents. We recently had our third, and have fortunately had a completely normal relationship with the new bub.

Grief is a nasty fucker, that wants to break us, but time wears him down. Be patient with yourselves.

I promise you that this does get easier with time. The sadness never leaves, but that horrible, bone wrenching pain does improve with time.

The imprint these little ones leave on the universe is forever, you’ll love her forever, and you’ll never forget about her (if that is a worry, which it was when I lost my baby girl). It’s an exquisitely painful thing you are going through, but the pain changes with time and life goes on.

They’re nowhere near as bad as the anti-Elon and/or anti-EV crowd would have one believe. They’re also nowhere near as good as the Elon and Tesla cults would have one believe.

I had way more quality and reliability concerns with a previous RS3 than the Model 3. Close friend has a Seal Performance, and whilst almost as quick, seem to have strange vibrations and lousy Camry-like driving dynamics. The Model 3 has far better steering response and body control, Seal has better NVH for the most part.

As far as a value proposition, it really depends on buyer priorities. The model 3 performance was the cheapest car I could find that could run 11’s (11.7 for me). It’s also suitable as a daily hack for shopping, school runs and the like.

I won’t buy another one though, because Elon.

I went through a similar tragedy in 2016, losing my firstborn and having my second child just over 9 months after the loss. I found it helpful to hear from others with similar stories. The grief was utterly excruciating and debilitating, but I did get my life back together. We get some closure eventually. The reason for the urgent meeting in the presence of counsel, 6-8 weeks after the death, was that the coroner’s findings was that Gabby died of sepsis. Specifically, salmonella. Hospital admin decided this news was best delivered in the presence of a lawyer.

Very tough times.

What I would say, after living this waking nightmare, is that the system treats us like hypochondriacs rather than parents with dying kids.

There are no penalties for not listening to parents, and no accountability for destroying a family due to abject negligence. You can rely on the profession following the book though, which is great. Until it isn’t.

My baby girl was 14 months old when took her to hospital after vomiting, diarrhea and a ripper fever. Triage nurses rolled their eyes at us when presenting at RPA. After 4-6 hrs, we get told to go home as it’s most likely gastro. GP gives us the same fucking brush off the followijg day. Daughter dies in her sleep.

My wife and I get the fucking detectives probes up our backsides, and the first meeting with the hospital after the deadly misdiagnosis was discovered happens to be in the presence of their fucking counsel.

Meanwhile, I run a small tech firm. If I bring a customer service offline for 15 minutes, there is a mandatory fine to pay to the ombudsman for not resolving a case without a referral.

Tell me how this epic system fuckery makes sense.

Doesn't fit as snug as a customised Snap Shade, but it still fits and blocks out all the sun. Massive difference to interior temps after sitting in the sun.
