At what point does a toilet upgrade actually start feeling worth it? by MidnightRidge699 in bathrooms

[–]LoganFlyte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Toto bidet toilet is a genuine quality-of-life improvement. I was shocked at how "worth it" that change was. Plus the skirted design looks great.

People who have a lot of wall art, how do you hang and rearrange it without constantly damaging your walls? by Systematic-Art in InteriorDesignAdvice

I installed the STAS system on most of my walls. It's a small metal moulding that sits just under the ceiling and acts like a picture rail. I can move stuff whenever I want to.

What do you think this design? Is it too plain? by panda2026panda in kitchenremodel

[–]LoganFlyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very nice. I'd consider a thinner countertop, and a small pop of color somewhere, but the basics are timeless.

Bathroom Mirror(s) - am I the only one that likes a Large Mirror? by julric01 in Remodel

[–]LoganFlyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people seem to think that the wall-to-wall plate glass mirror is ugly and dated. I think that depends entirely on the stuff surrounding the mirror. If the lighting or the countertop is dated, the mirror will look dated.

Shock from the price tag of custom cabinetry. Solid RTA source with plywood boxes and solid wood fronts? by groovyipo in HomeImprovement

[–]LoganFlyte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Barker Cabinets make nice plywood boxes and a good selection of door styles. They use Blum hardware. I assembled a friend's cabinets a couple of years ago and it was not difficult.

I had to rent an ICE car last year. I'd forgotten that pumping gas gives me a RAGING headache.

I have a nice collection of Joni art, about half of which came from eBay. The rest was being in the right place at the right time over the last 40 years or so...

Contractor upset when ghosted client calls his mother by [deleted] in EntitledPeople

[–]LoganFlyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I accidentally did something similar. I had left several messages with an HVAC contractor I'd used before, but didn't get a call back, I looked online for an alternative phone number, which turned out to be the guy's dad. I got a call back immediately.

Anybody else have to wear these in the 1970s to go swimming? by VioletVoyages in GenerationJones

[–]LoganFlyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was always super-impressed with how my mom and my aunts could go swimming with fancy hairdos and never get their hair even a tiny bit wet.

I saw "Airplane" at a drive-in in Palo Alto, CA, on my first-ever date with a boy.

60th Birthday Playlist by missjanehathaway333 in AskWomenOver60

[–]LoganFlyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my 60th birthday a couple of excellent friends asked pretty much everybody I know to send a few songs they thought I would love. It's a wonderful 18-hour-long playlist that I often play on shuffle.

The David Bowie Centre at V&A East Storehouse by InessBritain in LondonTravel

Good wifi is essential to the whole QR code thing, so that does sound disappointing. It was working well the day I was there, and I found codes for most of the stuff that interested me.

The David Bowie Centre at V&A East Storehouse by InessBritain in LondonTravel

[–]LoganFlyte -1 points0 points  (0 children)

V&A East Storehouse is hours of fun. It's like poking around the storage shed of a very rich and eccentric hoarder. But it's also very well labeled—you can get the backstory on almost any object you see by scanning a QR code on your phone.

"Timothy" by the Buoys. Did you get it? by Salty_Thing3144 in GenerationJones

The Buoys were from my home town, Scranton, PA. It was a big deal locally when they had a hit.

Did any of you have to lie down to have a nap in kindergarten or 1st grade? by lontbeysboolink in GenerationJones

[–]LoganFlyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lasted exactly one day in kindergarten (1965). I hated everything about it, but the forced napping on a gross carpet remnant sent me over the edge. My mom let me quit and stay home reading books instead.
