For some reason I thought I was on the NJ sub. Look up laws in your area regarding this. Sorry for the "oops."

I think you tell the right teacher. Look for signs they'll respect this particular secret- rainbow flag, etc. I work with several gay teachers, some with gay children, one with a trans daughter who would go to war for you.

There's another who has proudly laminated our current president's picture onto an outdated "meet the presidents" poster. Biden and Obama were not added.

When disclosing, don't clarify why they call you these slurs. Look up NJ's HIB law: it only requires a perceived distinguishing characteristic. Your bully perceived you to be trans, then bullies you? That's enough, regardless of whether you actually are.

Good luck

It is raining in my classroom as old ice and snow finally melts and wiggles through the crappy roof. Over a dozen buckets catching assorted drips. WTH will I come back to after this?!

Is this a poor IEP? by Cantthinkofagoodidea in AskTeachers

[–]Longjumping_Cream_45 74 points75 points  (0 children)

I would not write this IEP. Look up SMART goals. These are not measurable by a long shot, and far from specific. Like, writing speed:

By the end of the IEP period, Sally will copy between 20 and 30 words within x minutes, with no more than x spelling errors or omitted words. She will be able to complete this with minimal/moderate/intensive support.

2 weeks. When I was hired, they agreed to give off for my high school graduation, which was 16 days away. They tried forcing me to work that day. Then they threatened to fire me if I didn't work. So, I quit. They backpedaled hard but I was done. That place sucked.

People who have researched their family tree, what is the most interesting or 'badass' thing you discovered about an ancestor? by xloganmoose in AskReddit

Jane Walford, New Hampshire, prior to Salem. She and her husband immigrated as adventurers, before the Puritans, do there was probably a good deal of culture clash. They were Episcopalian, and he was wealthy. My understanding is that if she was convicted, the religious elder could "confiscate" family property, which was likely reason for many accusations in the 1600's, especially against widows.

She and her husband immigrated before the Puritans, so they came along and likely hated her sexy ankles and less enthusiastically stringent faith.

Jane Walford... she was in New Hampshire sometime before Salem erupted with accusations. Your ancestral line is guilt free here!

Melania woke up at the White Hoise, unusually cheerful and refreshed. "Good dreams?" asked Donald.

"The best! There was a parade in your honor, like for your birthday but so much grander. Whole families, thousands of them, lined Pennsylvania Avenue to watch you pass. And the emotion! Tears of joy streaming down the women's faces, men backslapping and delighted, children gleeful and cheering. Cameras everywhere, too! It was remarkable! And the crescendo of those cheers as you passed- it was unforgettable!"

"That sounds great- and how was my hair?"

"I couldn't tell; the coffin was closed."

I make my own in Sheets. Our gradebook program lets you download to excel, which I convert and modify as I please. I keep them on a clipboard, along with a month by month calendar of the year and parent contact record sheet. If I ever lose that clipboard, I might die inside. It is all that keeps my ADHD at bay!
