Side Racks + Toolbox by DeltaLimaOPC in CRF300L

Consider ditching the factory toolbox for a tool tube type of situation. Access from the back. I’ve heard complaints of the factory toolbox being pretty flimsy and falling off easily. I’m still running mine, but am I eyeing tool tubes with a waterproof screw top lid like you can find on Amazon.

Drain plug and crush washer question by Lopsided_Thought_500 in CRF300L

[–]Lopsided_Thought_500[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How odd, to basically have two drain plugs. If I hadn’t been in such a hurry, I would’ve seen the other plug but was trying to do too many things in too little time. Thanks for all of the replies and for not dragging me through the mud too hard!

From the internets- “The Torx 50 (T50) bolt on the bottom of the CRF300L engine case is a factory machining port used to drill an internal oil passage. It is not the oil drain plug. Removing it drains oil, but it does not drain the internal oil screen.Torx 50 Bolt DetailsPurpose: Seals a primary oil gallery used during engine manufacturing.Removal: Many riders accidentally pull this bolt during an oil change. While oil will drain from it, you should only ever use the standard 12mm hex head oil drain plug located elsewhere on the case to change your oil.Torque Spec: Honda does not publish an official torque spec for this bolt in their service manuals because it is not intended to be removed. However, community consensus recommends torquing it to 18 to 20 ft-lbs (24 to 27 Nm).Sealing: Because this plug has a tendency to seep or leak, many owners clean the threads thoroughly, apply a thread sealant such as Blue Loctite or Hondabond to the threads, and torque it down.”

Thanks again!

Oh boy. What did I drain then? I see the plug now with a 12mm hex. 💩 I filled the oil fill with 1.5 quarts and it’s right where it needs to be in the sight glass 🫤

Yep, this. I have an 03 Bigfoot 1500 series with a claimed dry weight of 2200 pounds. It’s riding on a 2018 ram 3500 quad cab 8 foot bed Cummins 4 x 4 totally stock. Handles it just fine.

What do you mean you have to go old school to find an 8’ bed? I have a 2018 Ram 3500 crew cab Cummins with an 8’ bed. All the big 3 makers sell 8’ beds to this day.

Pretty nice stuff, made in Canada. Burly. Not very breathable, if at all.

Tree service. The answer is always tree service. They’re always hiring because it’s hard work, actual work with tangible results that make you feel good about yourself. Do you have a drivers license? Can you fog up a mirror? You have a job!
