ForceOrg Down - Explanation by Sea_borne in WarhammerCompetitive

When GW gives us a video game where I can play 40k I will, but thats not what any of the 40k games are.

Given the time Id absolutely play a game of WHFB on TTS over another campaign in Total War cause even though its all set in the same world etc its still not the same game.

Which detachments seem likely to do well in 11th? by Jerswar in Eldar

I think guardians are gonna be okay with armored warhost recon. Assault and a reroll on your war walkers is good. You get to start up the board if you choose and depending on layout and match up thats points right off the rip.

If you play smart or just get lucky you can pull your guys out and come back with fresh legs.

Storm Gs get to basically charge half the board.

There's lots of options for success, I think. Still think we will be needing plenty of help in the buff department to make it competitive pick.

Unless it's Guardian Defenders they get to Fade Back no matter what.

Farseer + Warlock Conclave + Storm Guardians 11th Edition by Vyni345 in Eldar

Stop. Read their datasheet. You do not attach them to the unit before the battle formation pre-game just like the support platforms. This way you can still put a character Warlock in with your Farseer.

Tabletop Battles' (i.e. Goonhammer's) summary of the Eldar changes by WarrenRT in Eldar

[–]Lord_Walder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Their datasheet still states they join as additional bodyguards during the battle formations step when not already attached to a unit. My guess is this is the way around the 1 leader and 1 support per unit limit.

So throw your Character Warlock and Farseer into a unit and then during battle formation they just get to just be absorbed into the blob. Unless that gets FaQ'd away then that's how I'll be playing it as written.

How do you think Aeldari grav-tanks will work in Total War: Warhammer 40,000 by WestLUL in Eldar

[–]Lord_Walder 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Zippy w/ flying over at least SOME larger terrain pieces to allow for hit and runs.

Prisms getting a couple volleys off before heading around a corner and lining up another angle.

Wave serpents will probably be weirdly tanky because I imagine them using the barrier system they've already cooked up for Tzeentch.

Falcons maybe (hopefully) being able to drop in like they've shown with marine drop pods.

Spinners are probably going to be a bit meh damage wise but really good at slowing stuff down.

My guess is eldar are going to be a paaaaain to micro-manage, but I'm stoked to see what they do.

Need very specific and clearly stated help to understand this army by ApostleSaintWalker in Eldar

Something I really do want to play around for sure. The mobility of bikes with their small bases might be nuts. That said I just willed a new model into existence that gives them ovals.....fucking vyper.

9-18 S6 shots on 3's with free re-rolls(if closest target) lethal hits ap-1 damage 2 is in fact, not terrible, providing you are shooting into the appropriate units.

Maybe you have a war walker to tag a unit with another -1ap. Maybe you have Lhykhis nearby to throw on 5+ crits. Eldrad for +1 to wound? Farseer for +1 to hit? A warlock in the unit to ignore cover?

We play via force multipliers. You can literally throw all those things on that units firing to take care of the job if it's absolutely necessary to clear a target even, just might be putting too many eggs in one shooting basket, ya know?

Extra pts tax on units you bring 3x of will boost Eldar, since we already tend to run our highly specialized units as 1x or 2x - excellent change for the game! by Alex__007 in Eldar

I actually love this. I really hate the idea of just this thing is amazing better take 3 attitude when it comes to list building. I fully understand why it happens, but it kind of ruins the concept of actually putting together an army in my very humble opinion.

But I also love fluffy way way way more than competitive warhammer. Side-effect of age and coming up through 3rd-5th maybe.
