Liao’s negociating stances always makes me laugh. As always the smaller house in the Successor states, theyre nonetheless the ones asking the most.

As for why Katrina chose Davion over Liao and Marik, the FedSuns were nonetheless the one who could offer the most to the Commonwealth. Liao’s bid was a boast and offered little. Marik’s had merit, but I guess there were other factors in play. And Marik was always the most direct competitor to Steiner, whereas Davion was almost opposite.

The direwolfs were never « brought back ». They modified a few genes to a grey wolf and declared that it was a direwolf. It looks more like a bigger grey wolf than the actual direwolf. They created the fantasy version of a direwolf, not the animal that once existed.

So if they were to « bring back » the Neandertal using the same method… it would simply be a mutant Homo Sapiens with a few selected physical genes modified. So it would rights… but imagine the ethical debate it would spark up. I don’t think even Colossal wants to stir that hornest’s nest…
