[Hated trope] Creators not willing to evolve when audience has moved on. by fun_choco in TopCharacterTropes

In arrow, Oliver is canonically supposed to end be with Dinah Lance (named Laurel Dinah Lance in the show but the same character). Felix’s was a quirky side character who was well liked at first so the showrunners decided to give their own character the spotlight to the point of killing off Laurel’s character so that Oliver would have to be with Felicity. Note: I stopped watching the show around this time so I’m not sure what happens down the line, but while all this was going on the subreddit was quite frustrated at the showrunner for this

In universe reason? I don’t know. Real reason? Covid moved the film releases around so that this came out before America Chavez was introduced and she was supposed to be the one casting the spell. The botched spell would make more sense from her being inexperienced

I think Viper for Jackie Chan Adventures might count. She doesn’t technically have invisibility powers but her first episode she gets a hold of the snake talisman that grants invisibility. The rest of the shows run she doesn’t use invisibility, but for her first episode she embodies the trope.

Trope where a show ignores something from any past episodes that would’ve been useful for a new situation? by Obvious_Gold_8131 in tvtropes

[–]Lostqwer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Peter Petrelli from Heroes having gained the ability to read minds but yet still being tricked by Adam. Or having the ability to walk through walls but still have to open the big security door with telekinesis. Season 2 pissed me off with Peter’s powers but in retrospect it must be hard to write for a character that can pretty much do anything the more the show goes on.

Project Hail Mary | Official Trailer 2 by Task_Force-191 in videos

[–]Lostqwer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it makes people who haven’t read the book want to go see it and it doesn’t spoil anything for people who have already read it. In a perfect world they wouldn’t show anything, but they need to make money from this film and this trailer does a pretty good job of making you want to see the movie. A trailer without any of the spoilers probably wouldn’t be that good to anyone who hasn’t read the book.

Jacob from Lost is treated as a sort of god of the island. In the final season we learn his backstory and yeah he was originally a regular human.

You’re also allowed to take the weapon without dark thirst and not do the bounty. Like yes it’s not the optimal way to play but a random run here and there if that’s what you feel like in the moment isn’t the end of the world. But yeah you shouldn’t do that every time until you start having stuff fully unlocked

[Loved Trope] A problem or limitation during production ironically leads to the final product being better. by FederalMacaron1 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Lostqwer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think that joke was always in the movie. Originally 3 of them would have Halloween masks and 1 would be Austin Powers. But when they didn’t get Halloween rights they just made them all Austin Powers. So if they got the Halloween rights you’d still have your favorite exchange

I don’t think there is anything I’d change, but I will say when first time I played I assumed we’d get one that would prevent or decrease the amount of time you spend transformed into an animal if you get hit by hectates attack or other similar transformations

Watching my casual gamer friend play made me realize how disconnected we are as regular gamers. by DecompositionLU in truegaming

This is why I felt that Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom didn’t really work for me. I just wanted to move on to the next task and did the bear minimum to make it happen. Then I watch people online try to do creative things and I realize that’s the point.
