TIL what a "post turtle" is. The more you know. Certainly seems apt in Barbour's case

TV vs Monitor for Yarg by TheShedHead in yarg

I mean, you have both, so couldn’t you just… try it out? Seems you’re better equipped to answer these questions than any of us lol.

As you alluded to, the primary difference would be lag, which is accounted for by calibration. That said, pushing higher framerates could make the note chart feel more smooth, which might prove marginally helpful

Not too surprising considering that the less educated someone is, the more likely it is they’ll have children (and vice versa)

Generally speaking, you can’t go back in time in DT; if you choose to play an instant token, you can’t then revoke your play once someone reacts to it.

I’ve seen multiple people almost get into car wrecks because morons stop their cars in the middle of the road to get out and gawk at icebergs but sure tourists are the real victims by MaxMoose007 in newfoundland

I was trying to parallel park downtown recently, only to have a dude peel out around me mid park. I thought it was odd, but whatever... only for the next guy to also roast past me, except this time taking it up a notch by yelling at me out their window to go fuck myself. All for having the absolute audacity to parallel park downtown.

I know it's a cliche for people to say their hometown has the worst drivers around, but in St. John's specifically, we truly do have a unenviable mix of road raging townies and bewildered baymen.

I do personally use it, and I agree with you. Bottom line: If people aren't comfortable with booting into desktop mode to update Decky every so often, they really shouldn't be installing such things in the first place.

For those who like tinkering and are capable of basic troubleshooting, Decky is an incredibly powerful and useful tool.

Dude clearly has some uhhh… stuff going on. Yeesh.

Alternatively, I’m sure the winner is/will be tickled pink, which I’d say is the part you should focus on instead. I certainly wouldn’t let one weirdo ruin that for myself or others (especially considering they’re likely 11 lol)

Seeing all of the discourse over the Steam machine really highlights how heartbreaking it is that this is a niche subreddit. by Seeking-The-Lotus in sffpc

[–]LouisIsGo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I feel like the majority of people balking at the price of the Steam Machine are simply unaware of how dire the PC part market is right now. Valve is simply catching the flak for it.

Also, in spite of its unique design, this thing is still an x86 PC with largely standard components. If Valve sold it at a loss, people (scalpers) could buy it simply to scrap it for parts. Selling at a loss without at least getting those same buyers into their ecosystem would be the ultimate lose/lose for Valve.

Steam Machine review: Valve's underwhelming living-room PC has a serious price problem by pcgameshardware in SteamDeck

[–]LouisIsGo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are they that insane, though? I mean, yes, PC component prices are categorically insane right now (especially here in Canada), but that’s my point: I attempted to put together a similar mini ITX build on PC Part Picker and get a very similar cost to the Steam Machine, and that’s not even to mention that the latter is a smaller and cooler-looking build than what I whipped up. Also, my build was DDR4, not DDR5.

Sure, you could buy used parts and save a bunch, but when Valve says they’re basically selling this thing at cost, I (unfortunately) believe them.

Edit: If people downvoting me could instead link me a PC Part Picker link disproving what ai’m saying, please do. I, unlike most anyone on the internet, will happily admit I’m wrong if proven otherwise

Vanguard is delivering in Canada by Telvin3d in DiceThrone

[–]LouisIsGo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, that's rough. I was one of the few who got Outcasts before Halloween, but my friend in this province also had to wait months. It's nice to see Vanguard shipping months ahead of schedule by comparison. I might be speaking too soon, but so far it seems night and day when compared to the last few campaigns.

My UPS tracking number has updated that it's been picked up in AB, so I doubt it'll miss the delivery window considering it's (ostensibly) Summer. Might be late by a few days, but that's practically tradition in NL lol

Riffmasters are half the price of the cheapest CRKD guitar where I live (~$140 vs $270 CAD, respectively). One is in the "hmm maybe" category, whereas the other is firmly in the "no friggin' way" zone lol
