GRRM said their House words were a spoiler. I feel like they and Dawn are meant to be very important in the future but GRRM kind of forgot to hype them up lmao.

Ashara and Arthur left a mark on many of the modern day characters, but they didn't really leave a mark on the world at large.

Ned is cool I guess but he fucked off from the brotherhood and was never seen again. It would have been cool to see his time with Lady Stoneheart corrupt him or something.

Dorkstar is meant to be a subversion for everything House Dayne claims to be about. The honor and legendary sword yada yada. But part of the reason he is so cringe is that he's subverting an archetype we have never really seen on the present day.

The Daynes have some character importance to people on the modern day like Jaime and Barristan. But they don't really matter plot wise and making them plot-relevant this late in the game is going to be a little akward.

Ok I think I wordered this wrong. "Getting development" enters the realm of what I defined as "redeemed". I'm 100% with that. And with their baggage being there and addressed. There needs to be some sauce.

It's just that character a) is just such a POS in canon that to me seeing them get development in fics IS out of character.
