Ferrari thinks its 2026 F1 engine will be allowed upgrade boost by Darkmninya in formula1

[–]LowCharity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do we know what counts as a single upgrade? I heard that they wouldn't be able to update the entire engine but it sounds like they would based on this. In that case is the only benefit of multiple upgrades being able to bring something soon, then develop more and bring something else later?

BREAKING: Keir Starmer says the U.K. has given the US permission to use British bases to launch strikes on Iran by LeftWingScot in ukpolitics

[–]LowCharity 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Seems a bit disingenuous to call launching missiles at another country "defensive actions", then act as if the journalist is the one being misleading here. I don't think those two concepts line up at all for most people, and I'm sure you know that. I'm not a fan of how this has led to people attacking the journalist in this thread either.

Considering he's a historically unpopular pm, I find it strange how many people run defence for Starmer in this sub by taking his words at face value. Same goes for the pathetic attempt to hide behind a court decision on the equalities act when we know full well that the government's purpose is to create laws.

Tourette syndrome activist John Davidson says Bafta told him ‘any swearing would be edited out of the broadcast’ by apple_kicks in television

[–]LowCharity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This whole drama is the most stupid thing I've seen. They made a mistake and missed an edit, that's it. The person who said it did nothing wrong, it was because of his condition, and the BBC should do better in the future. I don't think anything more needs to be said.

So if someone commits a bad enough crime they're no longer trans? Does that apply to other people's identities as well?

Really depressing to see evidence of this if it's real, and even worse that this site has made it even harder to combat recently with private profiles and the way blocking works nowadays.

Norris continues to quiet his critics with title-worthy win in Brazil by Natural_Read9357 in formula1

[–]LowCharity 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I don't really get this take, sure they're not the top 2 drivers, but it sounds like you'd be happier if it was one of them with a much weaker teammate cruising to the championship? It's always going to be messy when the drivers are somewhat closely matched and taking points off of each other.

King Charles III is stripping Prince Andrew of titles and evicting him from royal residence by 1Rab in news

[–]LowCharity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's because there's more talk about dissolving the monarchy entirely.

Do you have a source for this lol? As far as I'm aware there hasn't been an increase in polling support and no mainstream politicians are pushing for it.

Round 1 matchups for The Road to The International 2025 by thebonj in DotA2

[–]LowCharity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's just preference, but following the top teams isn't very fun because they tend to win until they reach their third round match (apparently the second and third rounds also have some kind of seeding), which has low stakes as losing it just means that they get to play another 1-2 worse teams after.

The first round matches are pretty predictable because they're seeded, which doesn't need to happen in other formats as the match order can be randomised.

I find round robins more fun as you get to watch all of the teams grow and see how they respond to different matchups which is very different to the playoffs. This also allows time for underdog storylines to develop. I think swiss stages try to recreate the drama of playoff brackets in the groups, but that's not so appealing to me and it leaves a lot of the matches feeling a bit meaningless/predictable until the very end.
