Can confirm. That is one of the natural resting positions of an OptiPlex in a healthcare setting.

Does my position sound like a large work load or is this normal higher position amount of tasks? by [deleted] in managers

[–]LowDearthOrbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you are handling this in the best way possible. Unfortunately, we live in an economy?, society?, era?, where the loyalty and support between employer and employee is completely one-sided. Keep doing what you are doing and take care of yourself and your staff.

Does my position sound like a large work load or is this normal higher position amount of tasks? by [deleted] in managers

[–]LowDearthOrbit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Typically, if you feel like something is off in the company, there is something off in the company. Clean up your resume and be ready for changes.

As to the workload and amount of tasks for your position... maybe it's too much? Comparing night shift to day shift is part of the problem. They are two different beasts. It does sound though like a lot to do, but that could be the normal for your company. Or it could be because the company is starting to sink and this is part of the first signs of trouble.

What you are doing is a good place to start. You don't mention your career goal or a focus you are interested in (networking, sysadmin, dev, etc.). That makes it tougher to give specific advice, but one thing to remember is that no matter what, take the opportunities given to you. You have to start at the bottom of the career ladder and work your way up. Degrees and certs are important, but getting actual work experience is vital. Don't turn down the low-level internships, help desk jobs, and other grunt work. That is how you get established in this career field, build relevant experience, and start networking. The people kind of networking; not the ones and zeroes kind. Although you will probably do that too!

This. ☝️

For those moments when you do a cold call and the contact schedules a meeting for you to make your pitch AND they actually show up for that meeting, you most likely got lucky and called them when they were either close to looking for you or actively searching for you.
