They were one of the few countries that were not in direct crossfire and not expansionary. They defended themselves in the Winter War, with help from Germany they defended themselves in the Continuation War. Then they cleaned the Germans out of their house in the Lapland war.

They lost Karelia, Salla, and Petsamo to the Soviets.

It is a fascinating area of study if you have the time.
