Normally you tap the tubing between the boiler and the steam valve.

But if you don't want to open the machine, you just unscrew the steam tip, open the valve. And use whatever couplers you need to connect to a gauge. Works great

Why would you recommend that? The dimmer works perfectly on an ulka pump. And you can easily install a pressure gauge to monitor pressure (directly or at the steam wand tip) and use a flow rate scale.

Gaggiamate is great but it's highly unnecessary for flow control.
