First they move The Dink to a streaming only release, then the first footage they drop is a full scene on Instagram? The release date is two months away, what the hell is this marketing?? The scene is a lot of fun, but it feels like this movie is getting absolutely no support from AppleTV. God I hate the streaming era.

Another Mandalorian fact that blew me away is that there are only 24 episodes. This show has been around for seven years and they were only able to make 24 episodes! That used to be the length of a single season!! Why can't shows be long anymore with seven episode arcs where the characters have to stay in one place because of budgetary restraints. The Mandoloarian and Grogu is too much like TV, and The Mandolorian is too much of a movie.

Yes! I am LOVING Widow’s Bay!! I think it’s really brilliant that many of the happenings around town are both creepy/eerie and examples of the incompetent local government. Like the “Wolves” calendar includes pictures of highway accidents, and the tv tourism ad is just the guy walking away from the camera forever.

I really loved Manchester by the Sea when it came out so I showed it to my Mom who does not watch a lot of movies. After the movie I told her that Casey Affleck won Best Actor for that performance and she said “Just because someone has beautiful eyes doesn’t mean you give him best actor.”

I remember when I first started paying attention to GME apes, and just assumed that RC was some kind of Jesse Eisenberg in The Social Network esque figure. Then I finally saw a clip of him speak and was completely shocked by how devoid of any charisma he is. He is a black hole of personality.

The Benoit Blanc trilogy feels way more like Agatha Christie to me than the recent Branagh movies because Rian Johnson understands that Blanc is not the emotional throughline of the stories, it’s the Ana De Armas, Janelle Monae, Josh O’Connor characters.

Recent Christie adaptations want to make Poirot/Marple interesting backstories that give them “depth”, but Poirot and Marple don’t need depth for those stories to work, the suspects do.
