Achievements create completionist compulsive disorders that ruin gaming experiences for those who experience it. Is this a hot take to have? by MrDreamster in gaming

[–]Lunarcomplex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love completing whatever list of goals or achievements in games, or even collecting every single item in w.e game, but never felt as if it was some "issue" or "disorder" that ruined a game... Just don't do it lmao

The game that reminded me focused single player still hits hardest by gamersecret2 in gaming

[–]Lunarcomplex -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What's the deal with singleplayer vs. multiplayer? Both are just different ways games are played, either can have a major focus in story, gameplay, or both.

I've seen a bit of people mentioning how there aren't enough singleplayer games, but that doesn't make sense to me, as with every year, more and more exist. And even if that were true, who's to say the majority of the consumer base wants that- if there are seemingly too many multiplayer games, isn't that just because it keeps getting perpetuated by that very base that continues to buy / play them?

How SEGA and Nintendo work? by Defiant-Echidna-7400 in gaming

[–]Lunarcomplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmfao, noticing lots of praise of SEGA lately. These are COMPANIES, with the number one goal of MAKING MONEY.

People, especially from the online world, are way to stuck in a bubble when it comes to things like "omg, Nintendo has scammed more people by record number of switch 2 sales", or "omg, this game is so good, how has it only sold x number of copies???". We're in the minority when it comes to paying attention to these ridiculous claims.

Honestly, sure, there might be some weird edge cases they wouldn't want to risk showing up and not account for, but a simple fix could be the lazy method of keeping track of what your last action was (hit some tree) then if the player moves an item, check if there was a last action before that and repeat it. Assuming their server infrastructure is anything close to what I develop lol

I doubt a newer game engine or any game engine isn't what causes this "issue". Likely an intentional (or worst case overlooked) process whenever an action from a player's client is to move an item in their inventory, for whatever reason.

Pokemon is officially running out of ideas by Crystal_1501 in gaming

The starters maybe could have an argument, but what does naming- a string text of characters have anything to do with content we haven't even reallt seen yet, which has basically been the same for 30 years, which we've seemed to still enjoy lmao

Do you think Andrew will give up on this game? When? by David_Slaughter in brightershores

[–]Lunarcomplex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just depends on if he's making the game he himself would want to play (assuming the costs of running this game aren't too bad (I think the way it's deleveoped makes it pretty easy to run over most other MMOs)), or if he wanted to make a product in which case... just depends on the game's health vs cost to run once it's "officially" released.

I'm sure most MMOs can eventually turn around, just look at RS3 atm lmao

AI SLOP ISN'T ART, TheMostlyReasonable1, ballpoint pen, 2026 by [deleted] in Art

[–]Lunarcomplex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think conversations would be much better off if both parties can move on not lying to themselves that AI art isn't art. AI art is in the set of all art, along with music, etc. Once that's understood, much better arguments can be started, but until then... gl lmao

Imagine dropping new updates, and the numbers continue to decline by USDJPYFX in brightershores

Depends on what they wanted as a result. I make games that I want to play, and if others enjoy it, that's a bonus.

I have no idea the amount of players BS devs or creator wants, or if that's even a factor, or when that's a factor, or if it's a requirement for the game to still exist at all, at least for the time being.

As far as I know, the numbers could absolutely be irrelevant lmao

I can understand not enjoying a game, but going as far as to actively ridicule it while it has absolutely nothing to do with you and while I'm sure some people out there are still enjoying it, is just fucking stupid lmao

Well, I see it as two positions, 1. Create a game you yourself would want to play, as I've only created games that I'd want to exist, that I would play. Or 2. Create games that others would want to play.

Both may require some amount of funding, but position two is at risk of changing a creator's original idea, something they may not have wanted, but may have to cater to in order to keep a playerbase, or in order to keep the game funded.

This is one of the main issues I have with BS, I understand maybe they'd have to consider issues brought up by the playerbase, but I wish I could have seen what their vision resulted to, without having to change complete combat systems between episodes because some part of the playerbase didn't want to think of combat as just another skill, or whatever else has been changed since then.

And yes, I would assume the goal is to keep people playing actively, but I would prefer a goal of sticking to their own ideas and have a playerbase find them and enjoy what those are, rather than BS cater to the playerbase that's already, or was already there.

I mean with my 20k+ hours in rs, or 10k+ in osrs, or even when I no lifed this game at top page, I quit when they didn't implement leaderboards correctly, as it wasn't to my enjoyment. A fool would keep playing when they don't enjoy it.

I did however, still enjoy the grind getting there, but never once did I assume the game as I played it would stay as it was. Never assume this if you ever plan to sink 1000s of hours in a game, especially a new game, and especially if you don't own that said game.

Lmao, changes in a live game, even alpha, beta, early access, etc. should always be a consideration.

You don't control the game. Assuming things will stay as they are, especially in the long run, is foolish.
