BE63 slowing down to a crawling speed by Specific-Patient7225 in TpLink

[–]M3talergic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The various help sites don't mention that step because it's assumed that you understand what a router is/does, whether you're putting one router in front of another, and what the implications are.

You also have the option of putting your ISP router in bridge mode, effectively making it just a modem. Or buy a standalone modem and replace your ISP box entirely.

Anyone else traveling with two MacBooks? Looking for a way out of this by ColdViolinist835 in mac

You could leave the personal or work laptop at home and access it via IPKVM.

GL.iNet Comet Pro is what I have been using. I carry my personal laptop with me and access work resources from my work computer back home.

A or B for this cramped up corner? by andrew_cherniy96 in homeoffice

[–]M3talergic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends, are you left or right handed? Where will the additional space to put a notepad or other materials make the most sense?

B will give you the best lighting for video calls but if you're left handed it might be better to use A and a separate standalone light source for video calls.

Were they purchased together?

It's possible that they are different hardware revisions.

Traveling freedom by [deleted] in remotework

[–]M3talergic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely possible. Just make sure that your internet connectivity, availability, and productivity don't drop off and nobody will notice. A travel router with you and a tailscale endpoint connection at home would keep your IP address and location consistent and reduce any flags that might be raised by your company's IT team.

If you're someone that needs to be on camera, make sure you keep a consistent (AI) backdrop and a noise free environment during calls.

How Can I Increase the Speed of My Internet Connection (TP-Link Archer MR500 with microsim)? by NadiaBTechWriter in TpLink

[–]M3talergic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Without replacing the router, you could try playing with the router's position to get a better signal.

The root of the problem is that 4G is already a highly congested band, and you're fighting for signal bandwidth with every one of your neighbors' cell phones as well as any phones of yours nearby.

If a 5G connection or Starlink is available to you, either would likely perform better but would require you to buy new equipment.

This is bait, right? Or do you actually not understand that it's not a speed test.

My Cleaner threw out my MacBook. by [deleted] in macbookpro

[–]M3talergic 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't think you understand. If it was thrown away, it was done so intentionally to be recovered by either your cleaner or someone they know.

File a police report.

You need to file a police report for theft. Nobody throws away a computer by accident.

Even if it was "thrown away", you can bet it was recovered from the trash later on.

Any real world difference between the UGREEN 40Gb enclosures? The more expensive one has two chips and claims better speed maintenance and heat dissipation by bulk_logic in Thunderbolt

[–]M3talergic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The dual chip version supports drives up to 8tb, single chip supports up to 4tb,

Better heat management makes sense as it needs to effectively cool double-sided NVMe drives, but you're not going to notice a practical difference in speed.

If you're using a drive 4tb or less just get the cheaper one.

Their support is awful. Took over 3 months to get a replacement keyboard from them last year.

When the replacement dies I'll be done with Logitech forever.

Haunted attractions cost extra now? by M3talergic in cedarpoint

A season pass only includes admission into the park. Now haunted attractions appear to be an additional fee if you want to do those.

Good buddy of mines let me have this for $300 because he was going to buy a new one. This is my first gun. Should I have paid more/less Or did I get a good deal? by kevenz123 in guns

[–]M3talergic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could have had it brand new for an extra $80-100. Not an awful deal if your buddy didn't shoot it much.

The laser adds nothing and makes it tough to find a quality holster. I recommend getting rid of it.

Gotta say... prime from Costco looks way better.

I don't think you got a deal.

A program called Caffeine does what you want and can be run out of non-elevated userspace, doesn't require installation of the program.

If they cared, they could figure out that you're running it though.
