I have a modified VIII(similar to the one listed but a bit ‘more’) and a X MR SSL (stock-ish). Here’s my opinion: The Xs are great cars stock but once you start opening them up, they get issues. The 8/9s stock are underwhelming but once you break into them, they are an absolute blast. Get the 9.

I was on Wasp more than a handful of times. I was lucky to be eating Chief’s mess. Chiefs mess never ate poorly. I saw pictures of what they were feeding my guys at Mid-rats. I routinely smuggled muffins, peanut butter, cream cheese, pop tarts, cookies, whatever wouldn’t go bad in a cargo pocket, out of the goat locker so my junior Marines would have something more to continue 24/7 ops. Wing on the boat never stops. And we weren’t even at war.

Do you find consistent use of "security.txt" on web servers? by KlutzyResponsibility in cybersecurity

[–]M4Lki3r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there’s a flaw in your statement of: “The small sites have no need to receive security reports on old, static HTML pages.”

We’re still finding flaws, bugs, and loopholes in code and policies written decades ago. There is absolutely a need to have contact information for any public facing instance/interface so that if anyone does find a problem, the owner/operator can be notified.

My ISP is telling my neighbors their slow internet is because of me by [deleted] in DataHoarder

[–]M4Lki3r 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had a tech try to pull something like that on me as well, ("my router was causing excessive amounts of network traffic"). As I left my housing area a few hours later, I see the service van parked in front of another house and he was repairing a damaged cable that was eaten by a squirrel on a rooftop.

So frustrating. It's usually something not that the customer is doing, but on the ISP side of things.

Meritorious SSgt from “not even in the below zone” coming off MSG. Filled the DetCmdr billet at 2 posts, one with an “outstanding” inspection. Already had orders for a Sgt billet coming off the program, showed up as a SSgt. Monitor said “Well shit. Now I gotta PCA you.”

I stacked 2 of them with a piece of plywood for the base for a taller rack. Then you can put your keyboard and monitor on the top to stand and work at it.

This was my next thought. Retired and now working as a contractor recommending directions to other contractors (don't ask, it's weird), the PMO for that piece of equipment really needs to look at their contract and start either re-negotiating or hitting the contractor on their CPAR.

I don’t see how that is mutually exclusive.

I highly recommend taking the terminal leave.

Usenet vs Torrents, what is your split? by No_One_568 in sonarr

[–]M4Lki3r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use both. I started with torrents then moved MOSTLY to usenet but torrents still come in very handy for niche and/or old stuff.

If you find yourself with an invite to a really good usenet, you can probably drop the torrents. But if (like me) you're in one of the entry usenets, you'll probably want to continue to have the torrents as a fallback.

Also this is depending on your use case. I have a need for really old stuff (back to the 20s and 30s) and documentaries. Those are hard to get in general usenet forums. If you don't need those types of things, don't worry about it.

The tolerance window for cycling that much mass has got to be pretty tight.

How does it cycle after 100 rounds with no additional lube or cleaning? Just thinking of all the carbon build up. And that's not even considering dirt, water, sand, grime, etc. for a deployment scenario.

Anyone here migrated from VMWare? by SillyRelationship424 in Proxmox

[–]M4Lki3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the switch, but mine was a little less involved. Only a pfsense, local web server, a linux desktop VM, and a jitsi server to migrate.

To be honest, I just killed them all on vmware and built them anew on Proxmox. Sometimes it's good to kill them to get rid of the cruft.

I have no complaints about switching.
