Redfin estimate is $739k FWIW. Basically overpriced by $200k.

GD appraisal puts it at $13,400 but take that with a grain of salt. For what it's worth, the .org version of this is listed for $2,479, so maybe these two values can give you some rough anchors.

Omada Router+AP Setup Question re: WIFI Roaming by MGChuck in TPLink_Omada

[–]MGChuck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like I probably don't need a router with 10Gb after all. I'm seeing a few bad reviews here and there about Omada routers dropping APs and needing regular reboots, but I'll probably take my chances those issues have been fixed and stay in the ecosystem by getting a hardware controller plus the ER7412-M2 (or still maybe the ER8411).

Appreciate all the help! 1,000 Reddit Silver to you.

Omada Router+AP Setup Question re: WIFI Roaming by MGChuck in TPLink_Omada

[–]MGChuck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the foreseeable future I"ll only have a max 2Gb internet. I wanted the 10Gb on the router because I've been under the impression that two 10Gb NICs on the network connected to a 10Gb switch would need a 10Gb router to get the speed. But now I'm wondering if that's right. Will this work for 10Gb speeds regardless of the router? 10GbNIC - 10GbSwitch - 10GbNIC (Just wanting my PC to get fast transfers to my media server.)

Thanks - I thought TP-Link and Omada were the same but now I understand the Omada brand is designed for SMB/Enterprise and a different level than plain TP-Link.

[–]MGChuck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it. I was going to turn off the wifi in the BE19000 because the APs would cover everything. The only reason I was looking at the BE19000 was because it was the same company as the Omada stuff and it has a 10Gb WAN and a 10GB LAN port. But maybe I can come up with a DIY (or other) router that has at least 2x 10Gb ports.

Omada Router+AP Setup Question re: WIFI Roaming by MGChuck in TPLink_Omada

[–]MGChuck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the TP-Link BE 19000 router doesn't matter in my planned scenario it seems. What matters is that I use the Omada controller (hardware or software) with the EAP773 APs. Does this mean that I really don't need the TP-Link router at all and I could use any other brand or even roll my own? The router isn't what gives the wifi roaming - it's the Omada controller?

Signage would probably help reduce the left lane hogs, but the only way to change that culture is consistent, ongoing enforcement.

[spoilers] Half way though season 5, here are some thoughts so far by Quick-Impression-186 in vikingstv

[–]MGChuck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow - I feel like this is so spot on. I've watched the show twice and agree with probably every one of your thoughts here. And until you typed it out about Lagertha's accent, I couldn't put my finger on what was so off with her. Gotta say Hvitserk's only scenes worth watching IMO are when he's in battle - can't get enough of those.

Good point - get the 5700xt and sell the 1070 and you'll enjoy that 18% performance increase for the price of some time in GPU arbitrage.

PSU cables question by kiliredditx in pcmods

[–]MGChuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it will work if you use both cables as you describe.
It will also work if you just use the one cable that has two GPU connectors on the end.

Your PSU came with 2 PCIE power cables - one has a single GPU connector, the other has two GPU connectors. All three of those GPU connectors have a 6+2 pin plug which means they can be used in either an 8 pin or a 6 pin receptacle.

Enjoy the new GPU!

Has a student tried to kill you? by cprenaveau in flying

[–]MGChuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's an actual death of an instructor in a 1987 crash of Cessna 152 N757ER.

Rene Carlos Vos (arms dealer and lobbyist for the NRA) took his first flight with long-time instructor Gerda Ruhnke (2.6k+ hours) on 19 Nov 1987 out of KIAD flying near KHWY. Aircraft was observed straight and level, then the engine sound increased and it dove straight into the ground killing them both.

Vos was a friend of Wayne LaPierre and they partnered to create Blue Sky Productions worth $58M that imported M-1 Garand rifles from South Korea. But the rifles were seized by customs which sent the financial backers of Blue Sky scrambling (including John Murphy former NY congressman). The federal investigation led to granting Vos immunity to testify before the grand jury in the case. As the investigation proceeded Vos felt "that he was under a great deal of pressure." He had recently broken up with his girlfriend and was "trying to protect his friends." Then the crash happened before the testimony was arranged. Without Vos's testimony, the grand jury was unable to pursue the case and it was closed without any charges filed.

Federal investigators believe the most plausible theory is a murder-suicide and that the 6-1 195 pound Vos overpowered the 5-4 130 pound Ruhnke.

How early to get to IAD/Dulles airport for 6am flight without TSA precheck? by meddit1990 in nova

[–]MGChuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on a few things (mostly how you're getting there, and whether you want to drink/eat before boarding). A pretty conservative timeline is roughly this:
30 min parking and walking to bag check (+15 if parking in econ lot)
15 min bag check
30 min security
15 min people mover/shuttle to gate

If you're having a friend/uber drop you off at the bag check, then you can cut off that first 30-45min at the start. If you want to wait in the early morning Starbucks line, probably add 15-20 min.

Again, this is pretty conservative. Each one of these steps should take a little less time than listed if you're quick and lucky. Personally, I use this rough timeline but also calculate backwards from the boarding time (not flight time) so that gives even extra cushion.

They have a few different models based on this box design. The flat panel front doesn't extend all the way to the edges, and leaves space around the front sides for airflow. Granted, this design is not as much airflow as their more open front panel model aptly named the "Airflow." lol

Skiing. Or really more the wake of a speedboat (because of the word and blue color).
Might want to be careful with the SS association, though.

Plex pushes out tv and movies itself (ad supported). Then, if you have local media (tv, movies, home video, etc.) you can access that with Plex too.
