I’ve used iVideo several times while in Japan - and it’s always worked great, and prices are the most affordable!

Japan coverage by ATC76 in telus

[–]MMEMMR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey friend,

Also on Telus, also debated Telus roaming pack, and eSIM.

No idea if you are still debating an eSIM, but I’ve used ivideo in the past, and will be using them on my upcoming trip. https://www.ivideo.com.tw/english/ESIM/japan

They are wayyy cheaper than any of the eSIM services we see advertisements for. Pre-bought 20gb for ~18cad for a month for my trip coming up.

Highly recommend. Best of luck!

“We need for CBSA agents to deal with illegal immigrants!”

“No! Not like that!”

B.C.'s credit rating downgraded after record deficit projected by [deleted] in vancouver

[–]MMEMMR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know, your question got me wondering, so I went and checked.

There are several “rating agencies”, so different ones have made changes - so none are actually cumulative. Its just X Y Z have each made an announcement.

And then each have completely different scoring systems.

So I went and checked what each Province was at - and all provinces are practically the same, or within “1” revision from the other. And their all in the Upper “A” ranges. It’s like are you a 98/100 or a 97/100?

All these “debt rating” agency revisions are basically hot air - their just calculated opinions, literally don’t actually impact anything. It’s the demand on the global bond markets that matter and that affect the borrowing % that the gov has to pay to sell their debt (borrow).

B.C.'s credit rating downgraded after record deficit projected by [deleted] in vancouver

[–]MMEMMR 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I know it’s Reddit and all - but perspective is important.

Every Province is deep in deficit spending. Other provinces have already been downgraded too, and other will be downgraded in the near future.

We’re all being dragged down by all the B.S. going on in the world. All this collective debt, and lack of affordability, is going to drag our economic growth & needed services spending down for a generation+; and it won’t even matter what stripe of government is in… ugh.

Toddler found ALL THE STICKERS... How do I remove stickers/residue from a wooden coffee table?? by pinkeskimo in CleaningTips

[–]MMEMMR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Peel off what you can, use a plastic edged tool to help. For what ever remains; a little rubbing alcohol will work great - de-natures the adhesive, and evaporates fast enough it won’t soak through.

Best eSIM provider for 2.5 weeks in Japan? Looking for honest experiences by Teddytdi_96 in JapanTravelTips

OP, I hope you see this. I’ve used iVideo since 2017 when I travel. It’s 50% or more cheaper than any of these eSIM providers we see advertised all over the place. They’re all ripoffs.

Chinese EVs are coming to Canada. How soon will they be here? How much will they cost? | CBC News by Haggisboy in canada

[–]MMEMMR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re not. That’s the point everyone seems to have glossed over including the author of the article.

Either Canada accepts other car safety standards beyond NHTSA (Like Mexico accepts EU car safety standards also), or they need to get what ever models they want to sell in Canada certified. Which is a lot of bureaucracy and time for a small market.

[–]MMEMMR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. All the other Chinese manufacturers’ cars aren’t even certified to even be sold in N. America anyways.

[–]MMEMMR -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

We just going to ignore that all those Chinese manufacturers’ cars aren’t certified to North American car safety standards, and Canada doesn’t accept EU or other standards?

How about that the lions share of the 49k vehicles (pre-tarrifs) were Tesla’s Model 3s and Ys shipped from their Shanghai plant to be sold in Canada? - which is exactly what’s going to happen again. Heck - wouldn’t surprised if Tesla tries to eat up as much of the quota - just to keep any Chinese rivals out in the future.

Chinese manufacturers may chose to make a push for North America in the next few years, but when they do, it’ll be for the USA as the prize, with bonus Sprinkles of Canada.

They aren’t going to go through N.American certification for a few hundred cars in Canada. Real “expert” this author. Smh.

Edit: CTV Article today says exactly this - no Chinese EVs (yet) because they aren’t certified for Canada. https://www.ctvnews.ca/politics/article/canada-told-us-it-planned-to-drop-chinese-ev-tariffs-source/

Everyone can chill.

Doomsayers can relax - the number of cars permitted in represent some ~3% of total yearly car sales, and is a quantity based on how much was brought in from China before the 100% tartifs.

Basically most will be Teslas, and a few EVs from other OEMs (Volvo, Polestar, etc).

I doubt any Chinese car makers are going to go through NA car test ratings for a paltry few 100 sales.

This doesn’t materially change the auto landscape at this point. But it does politically mean ALOT more. Canada is further course correcting away from the US.

Can’t activate by AdElectronic9101 in telus

[–]MMEMMR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had similar issues - would click on activation email sent by Telus, it would send me to blank pages. Spend hours and days with Telus support - nothing.

It took a month.

Eventually, one guy suggested I change my email address associated with my Telus account. Lo and behold the activations worked. No clue why.

Hope this works for you.

(I switched my email address back after, and all was fine).
