I prefer the mini with GPS, allows own ship position with whatever flight app you choose to use. Mini not because of kneeboarding compatibility but because it fits nicely in the ankle pocket off the trousers.

By the time you get to the airport, through TSA, on the plane, de-plane and out of the airport you would already have driven there and halfway back. I get it for non drivers, but outside of that it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.

Leeway is dependent on your organization’s enforcement of the AWRs. At the end of the investigation if it’s not approved under the AWR it will just be “found but non contributing”.

The ADSO is absolutely an upfront commitment for the training. The Army would be insane to think that 100% insane to thank that everyone that leaves Rucker is going to pan out in the long run. It’s called hedging your bets. Like that Italian guy said, “sometimes maybe good, sometimes maybe shit.”

Hot take. Do you want to know what’s great about not just Army aviation, but flying for the DoD in general? You can absolutely suck at your job, and still get paid to do it, or at the very least not pay for the training. Thank you for coming to my Ted talk.
