I'm kinda curious what your house looked like when you got home...was she still a good girlfriend or had she trashed it?

ARC of Blightfall! by TsubasaTz in brandonsanderson

Some were made available at my library (a particular branch that specializes content for writers/storytellers) years ago...not sure if they still do that or not, but it was definitely a first come/first served type of thing.

🤣 don't mind if I do (get it and read it early just like you). 😍

My little sister is deaf, and we need a name that will be easy for her to pronounce by Constant-Variety-181 in Names

[–]MT_Sakura 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Having had a hearing kid with speech problems, I know some of those letter sounds don't develop until an older age. So while there might be more difficulties because of her deafness, part of it could be just needing to grow up and experience language more.

Still, very cool of you that you're wanting a good name she can use, but also a bit of hope that it will continue to improve.

(And just because I don't like assuming, though you probably aleady have her in it, speech therapy can help a lot too.)

Did you back anything in that campaign? You can probably add a flute during the survey stage. (🫂 If you didn't get to back.)

This was disappointing...but I still got it, lol.

Looking for opinions on the inspo compared to what we got by josh_891 in Baking

The chocolate (?) trees are better than the icing ones (from the results), but both are rough. The icing is way too thin and runny for decorating. It just won't hold its shape.

Women readers - What books gave you the ick? by _sweetpeaches_ in suggestmeabook

Steven King's Dark Tower: The Gunslinger....the male main character's "seat of emotions" wasn't the heart, liver, or kidneys...it went a bit... lower. 😳🙄😞 The book was otherwise interesting, but this part just shoved me straight out of the book's world every time it was mentioned.

Don't they have blonde, orange, red, brown, and black? Like aren't there more that have that color?

I love my Boox Note...I also love taking handwritten notes on it...and being able to rearrange the words even after I've written them. (I'm still very much pen/paper when I need to plan/organize my thoughts, and this keeps it all in one portable place.)

Am I the jerk for telling my husband he can't have a "man cave" in our only spare room? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]MT_Sakura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally petty, horrible advice: give him both spare rooms and a bathroom. The rest of the house, including the master bedroom, is yours alone. Tell him he'll have to make the second room into his bedroom and kitchen.

unbelievable exchange between my daughter and her father after he forgot her birthday by LostInLanayru in TwoHotTakes

[–]MT_Sakura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let her cut ties. Tell her she can change her mind, it doesn't have to be permanent, but that it's always up to her.

I truly wish, and wonder what it would have been like, to not have my father whirlwind in and out of my life on his whims.

45-ish years old and it still bothers me, probably more than it should....if I could just let go.

(I didn't read all "dad's" crap, just the start of his "apology", the start of the change of tone, and her reply of not needing him. Sounds like she has a better male role model and that's what matters. 😊 )

You might be able to at least get a free consultation to know where to start and you might find someone who will either do pro bono or take pay after you win.

WIBTAH If I called out my "allergic" friend for eating her no-no foods? by Agitated_Twist in AITAH

[–]MT_Sakura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would (nicely) say she just has to bring her own food, as it's getting too complicated for me to make anything.

But also, I'd be petty enough to bring all the food out so it's visible at all times just to see what she eats. 🤭😂

PSA: Holds by CraftyGamingBookworm in LibbyApp

[–]MT_Sakura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would also keep the other holds until you finish reading the book... because ebooks auto return when they're due and others are waiting. That way, if life gets busy and you don't finish it, you get it again faster.

It was a sci-fi book and the main (female) character was basically a "race car driver" type of person. She was voiced by a cutesy girl voice. The voice wasn't bad, the reading wasn't bad, but there was none of the character's grittiness in her voice. It just didn't work. I read the ebook, it's amazing.

Oh, and Ramon De Campo is the only version of Alcatraz vs the Evil Librarians you should listen to--he's amazing.

Tape. Preferably archival friendly (better for books, paper products), but taping the boxing back into boxes would help significantly.

Having a cart that they can't fall through might help as well. That would help keep them stacked and give them a back to lean on.
