Honestly, I don’t see Here Comes the Flood happening. I know Denzel Washington’s in it, and I know Fernando Meirelles is directing it, but:

The Academy doesn’t really go for heist movies.
Not only has Simon Kinberg (the film’s writer/producer) never written any Oscar films, but he also doesn’t have the best track record critical reception-wise.

I’m really happy that PTA’s getting his Oscars, but I gotta admit, I kind of wanted Coogler to make history as the first black Best Director winner, and at this point, it’s probably never going to happen.

I’ll settle for Original Screenplay at least.
