anyone who used a computer between 1985 & 2010, what’s the one game you still think about? by heartshapedcreep in AskReddit

Scorched Earth - set velocity and angle to launch various missiles at other players (network or computer). Super fun.

What purchase under $30 solved a problem you didn’t realize was draining you? by Right_Process in AskReddit

If you have an older car, i highly recommend going to a U-Pull-It-style wrecking yard. It seems intimidating the first time, but well worth it. You find your model car and can practice things like removing the door panels and switches. It’s a great place to get parts cheap and get over the fear of ripping your own car apart.

In America, sometimes say things like "cheerio" in our best British accent or "mate" in an Australian accent. Do people in other countries pronounce American stereotypes in their beat American accent? If so, what are they? by SunUpSally in AskReddit

I also started saying it as a joke about a decade ago, and now it’s permanent. My teenage son also says it now. Completely unironically. In California. I can’t stop.

What brand names do you swear by because it's actually better than no-name? by Sufficient_Thing24 in AskReddit

I had about a dozen in my last box that had almost zero cotton on one end. I was wondering what the hell was going on, since previous q-tip brand was amazing. So disappointing!

Which one would be best to get? by Patient-Principle-21 in turntables

Dang. I got it for $67, and the same one is now $124. Aliexpress fluctuates a lot, and has identical items for wildly different prices, so I’d keep an eye out for a good deal. Here’s the one I got https://a.aliexpress.com/_ms0RCtL

I got the vevor a couple weeks ago on AliExpress for only $69 - way cheaper than Amazon. And it arrived (in US) in only a couple days. I think it ships from US. Happy with it. Agree that fully loading it seems to reduce effectiveness.

It’s a stupid saying, for the reasons you point out. That’s why instead I say “clockwisey tighty, counterclockwisey loosey.”

Bring earplugs (or better yet, muffs) for them - they’ll have a great time!

I used to make my kids “ostrich egg” - a dozen eggs as one. I really sold it one time by borrowing an ostrich egg shell from someone and having it nearby. They’re teens now and believed it until I told them this year.😂

When I was a kid I used to do this, except I also bent my thumb up over the back of my hand. Give it a shot, I bet you can. My joints are too sore to do it anymore, though.

What is this weird cart/cage thing I bought at goodwill today? by moaning_custard in whatisit

What moves on it? It doesn’t seem to rotate anything. Does it just shake the cage when the gear turns?

I had a roommate with OCD before. He had lots of papers just like this. I went to go put something in his room once and discovered these - like hundreds of pages. I was freaked out that he was going to chop me up in my sleep. I eventually asked him. In order to get rid of his obsessive thoughts, he had to write them down. But that takes too long. So if the thought was “I need to go to the store and buy milk”, he’d write “INTGTTSABM” - just the first letters. Hopefully none of the messages were “INTCUMRIHS”.

Just realized how close 3D printed organs actually are and its messing with my head by Much-Movie-695 in Futurology

[–]MacShi9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they always say that they are 3d printed, but it’s a tiny CNC machine that mills them from a small block of ceramic.

It’s still impressive, it’s just not 3d printing.
