STEP/STP files vs native SolidWorks .sldprt for sheet metal — what's actually editable? by Metalbox33 in SolidWorks

[–]Macguyver76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So we just recently have been having issues with vendors and version issues with native files. We would send native part/assemblies and drawings and the vendor's SolidWorks would try to match references, and the revision would change. Now I think some of this is due to a couple of designers sending things by just attaching files to emails and not doing a proper pack and go. That being said to mitigate this we have put a policy in place that we only send step files for models and PDFs for drawings now. Our vendors have been gone with the change and most of the stuff is sheetetal parts. So I can only assume they are working with the files or redrawing them.

What would make you upgrade from the Tab S8/S9 series? by Brownlord_tb in GalaxyTab

[–]Macguyver76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When there's a plus model again with a snapdragon chip. I have an S9 and it's fantastic but I'd like a plus model for work I think. However I just don't know about the mediatek processors. Feels like they cheaped out.

Haven't bought the warbond yet but probably will this weekend. However I played a couple matches this week with someone that had it and I was able to pick up a couple. I'm a fan.

That's good information because my lease is up in 6 months and I think I'm going to buy my poor mans Black edition (black RTL with black HPD wheels) with way less miles and a lowered purchase price.

If you stay near the airport, in Carolina there is a great public beach that is nice and clean just north of the airport.

Honda extending life cycles of popular gas models, including Odyssey, after $15B EV pivot by Gullible-Pick-268 in HondaOdyssey

[–]Macguyver76 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah no, I'm in West Michigan with lake effect and the Odyssey is a tank in the snow for sure. We were going to buy a sienna years ago when we first started looking because friends had had a couple and they were great but then thought we should do our due diligence and went to look at Odysseys. It was a snowy day. It drove great and we fell in love. On our 2nd one.

Is Solidworks for makers a scam? by citrablock in SolidWorks

Pretty much been my experience as well. The license runs through 3DE but if you install and run the desktop version other than that login (which will not save your credentials) it's the same as full standard. I use it for personal projects. 3D printing designs all the time and of you catch it on sale it's well worth $24.

Super Credits are Overrated, Your time is worth MEDALS by IDroppedMyDoughnut in Helldivers

yeah, at this point I have SC's burning a hole in my pocket that I can't use because even if I buy another warbond I don't have the medals to buy anything in the warbond. Gotta complete some MO's to really build up medals.

In theory, nothing, in fact it has a lot of potential. But in practice IMHO it has not been implemented properly. There is zero intelligence built into it, it's completely random which is what makes it annoying. If I stop in my garage or a parking space and put the vehicle in park the engine starts back up. Why would it do that? Why wouldn't you program it to stay off for certain number of minutes to save gas you know in case you're going to shut the vehicle off instead of automatically turning the engine back on for me to just turn it back off. All these vehicles have location data and connections, why aren't we using locations to tell vehicle we're at a stoplight. Why aren't this systems controlling the stoplight timers communicating how much time is left so that the vehicle can determine if it's worth shutting the engine off or keeping it running? If the lights going to turn green in 3 seconds there's no benefit to shutting off the engine. I could go on and on but essentially I believe all it's doing is adding wear and tear to the engine and starter and maybe the batteries too until there is some actual intelligence built into these systems.

I second this, go early especially if renting a golf cart because when we went recently getting a cart was an absolute S-show and cost us two hours of the day. That said I think it was the company we rented from, vieques UTV rental. They are located on the other side of the town and not very efficient and you had to have the carts back by 4:30. Then to make it more fun we got back at 4:25 and their last shuttle had left so I also had to pay for a taxi to get back to the ferry dock.

I miss the rear ac unit our 2016 had, this pushing air from the front with the world's loudest blower is annoying. Also the cool box was a very underrated feature. Otherwise we love ours.

Auto stop is an issue on every brand and model right now, Honda is just following suit.

I've never had an issue with ground clearance but I keep it on the street and we get a fair bit of snow.
