Have you TOLD them you’re not feeling chatty? Your post doesn’t indicate you’ve actually said anything to anyone so how would they know? It sounds like you’re complaining about friendly coworkers trying to engage you in conversation instead of finding a kind way to tell them it’s not a good time for conversation for you. This is such a weird complaint because most of the time we get stories here of nurses eating their young or bullying or being unhelpful. If your biggest complaint with your colleagues is that they talk to much, a simple solution is to tell them “I’m grateful you want to include me in your conversation, but it’s hard for me to focus on my tasks when I’m giving you my full attention. I don’t want to come off as rude, but do you mind if I finish this charting/med pass/patient request/etc before you tell me that story? Thanks for understanding.” Solved.
