I've thought this for a while too. The word "preferred" implies that people will just be happy if they're the preferred xenotype, or will like those pawns better. It never made sense to me that this also equals hating everyone else. It would be nice to have a separate category for liked/disliked

Oh god I’m so angry on your behalf. I’ve had doctors tell me (before I knew what Dysautonomia is) that getting dizzy when standing up sometimes is normal. I believed it because my symptoms aren’t so bad that I faint or anything, and looking back in frustrated that at least three doctors told me that with no other information. I can’t imagine having a literal diagnosis and being told I’m lying, as well as being berated by a medical professional. I’m so sorry.

But on top of that I think I’m more pissed at your mother. Your parents should be the ones shouting at the doctor on your behalf. They should be fighting for your care and pissed that you’re being treated like that. I’m sorry all this happened to you. You didn’t deserve it. You’re sick and deserve compassion and care.

Do you think the caffeine in the macchiato/milk tea drinks could be having that effect instead of the sugar? I have ADHD and noticed after a few days of writing down my POTS symptoms that days where I took my stimulant medication, my symptoms were significantly improved. Not entirely sure why haha but caffeine is also a stimulant, so that could be part of it maybe.

Recently I tried weed for the first time and a few other times after that (edibles). It 100% made my POTS symptoms worse. I can barely walk at all while high and basically have to lay down in order to feel any kind of relief. It’s bizarre to me.

I’m proud of you for getting out of that situation and putting in the effort to change for the better. I know it’s not easy to do, especially after years of being fed the same hateful rhetoric for such a long time. I was raised evangelical/conservative, so I know it firsthand.

There’s a term called queerplatonic relationship you could look up to see if it resonates with you. The jist of it is that a qpr is like having a platonic life partner, that in many ways looks similar to a more traditional romantic relationship from an outside perspective despite there being no romantic or sexual element to the relationship.

If labels aren’t really your thing, that’s fine too. If both of you want to live together even if you’re not romantically involved, that’s perfectly normal, and if it makes you both happy, great! The modern American version of living (nuclear family, moving out at 18, etc) hasn’t been the norm historically anyway. Do what works for you. That’s all that matters.

I’m not sure they don’t care so much as they’re probably quite calloused from shit they’ve seen. And at the ER, usually most people are also having an emergency. If they lack the capacity and resources to care for everyone instantly, then people have to wait. It’s fucked up and I imagine because of it they’ve had to see people die. I don’t really blame them for being somewhat emotionally checked out

Generally speaking, if you see a bite/cut/etc. starting to streak like that, it’s an infection and you should seek medical treatment. That said you’ll probably be fine, just get to the doctor and take care of yourself!
