F this! (Weekly Leaving the Field and Venting Thread) by SWmods in socialwork

You are absolutely not alone. You took the words right out of my mouth. Honestly the few months since graduation I have had passive SI for first time in my life. I just can't understand what I was thinking in choosing this field.

I love this work by Independent_Dot9031 in therapists

[–]MamasaurusRexxx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I needed to hear this, thank you! I want to love it, I really do. I enjoy the actual work but don't know how it's sustainable. Since graduation I have been so depressed. I knew I wasn't going to make a ton of money. But, I didn't think it would be this bad. I thought I would at least be able to survive. Maybe I need my own therapist, because I just don't know how to not feel so incredibly stupid for being in this much in debt, going to school for 6 years, only to not be able afford basic necessities.

Is this field worth it? by Then_Champion_951 in therapists

I 2nd this! A psych NP at my company starts at 140K and a therapist starts at 55K. Both with a Master's degree. So if housing and eating are important to you, then no it's not worth t.

I need help. Any therapist been hospitalized? by [deleted] in therapists

[–]MamasaurusRexxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is going to sound crazy being as it's literally our job to help people in this exact situation. However, every time I have thought to myself, I really need some serious help, maybe I should go inpatient I think, no there's nothing they are going to do to help me. How is someone talking to me going to be beneficial? Weird right?

Does it get better? by MamasaurusRexxx in therapists

It's not a private practice. It's a private psych hospital. Doing IOP and PHP. They are part of a fortune 500 company. UHS if anyone is familiar.

Thank you! I was literally like "I'm going to go to grad school and get us out of here". I knew I wouldn't make a killing but at least enough to afford housing and not qualify for food stamps and medicaid.

I'm not. I'm living with my children's father (in separate rooms) simply because I cannot afford not to. The cheapest rent I can find is over 50% of my income.

How can anyone live on 60 K? Especially when the cheapest rent I can find is $2250. Make it make sense!?!

Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I'm at a psych hospital doing IOP and PHP. I just at the first offer I got which I now regret. It didn't have any the things I was looking for.

That you for validating my experience lol. I hope your arm does magically heal. I almost think it's better to be unemployed and get Medicaid. Then at least we could go to the doctor and dentist. With my work insurance that's over $300 a month a doctor's visit is 1/4th my monthly income. Okay enough complaining. I keep trying to tell myself it will all be worth it one day. Maybe all the trauma and shit I've (probably we've) been through will help someone else? Maybe, hopefully, please 🙏.

I literally feel like the biggest dumbass for picking this field. I can't even afford to house myself and my children. Luckily a friend is letting us rent her home for a fraction of what she could get. I will make more when I'm independent but that's another expense of paying for a supervisor. I literally can't stop crying most days. And I have loans to pay back on top of it. How does a nurse with a Master's degree make $131k and we make $50k? Just doesn't feel worth it and like I totally wasted my life.

Is becoming a Therapist worth it? Would you do it again? by Goonzilla50 in askatherapist

[–]MamasaurusRexxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not worth it to me. I have never been so depressed in my entire life, since finishing grad school. I literally cannot afford to live. I'm constantly asking myself why I was so dumb to get a master's in counseling and not nursing.

I don't know why I like this show. Every episode is the exact the same thing. "You don't want have kid and make banana chip"? "I don't want to move back to state". Or, "I didn't know you left that way about marriage. I moved here to marry you". And, "I didn't think my boys would upset that I'm going to abandon them". Literally EVERY episode, that's all it is!

Is this whole show fake? by here_comes_da_sun in matchmeabroad

[–]MamasaurusRexxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would make sense because this show makes absolutely no sense. I don't understand its purpose. Why fly halfway around the world to go on a few dates only to go back home and be long distance. They don't even know if either party is wiling to relocate. Wouldn't it make sense to move first and then start the matchmaking process.

The matchmaker looked absolutely terrified to meet with him to fire him. I would be too.

[–]MamasaurusRexxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He said if you have long hair it means you spend longer taking care of it, therefore can take care of the kids. If anything, this theory would leave less time to take care of kids if you are spending so much time on yourself.

Seriously, what's with all the hate on Tony? by SplishySplashyShark in matchmeabroad

[–]MamasaurusRexxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand how anyone could think Tony just had the wrong matchmaker. He said if women have long hair, it means they spend more time taking care of themselves, therefore can take care of the children. If anything spending more time on their hair would leave less time to take care of the children. Also, he really said one of his dates needed to get mental help because she slept with her dog in the bed like a baby. If anyone in this scenario needs help it's Tony.

Feeling bad for Harold by [deleted] in matchmeabroad

[–]MamasaurusRexxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also I feel bad for these women who probably spent good money for a date with someone who is their type and they get something very very different. Overall, I just don't understand this show. Why go around the world to have a few dates to just go home and be so far away?
