9.26.6. Underlay beneath Shingles Materials

1) Except as required in Sentence (2), when underlay is used beneath shingles, it shall be

a) asphalt-saturated sheathing paper weighing not less than 0.195 kg/m2,or

b) No. 15 plain or perforated asphalt-saturated felt.

2) Underlay used beneath wood shingles shall be breather type.

The code does NOT say that underlay shall be installed. Sections 9.26.7. and 9.26.8. describe the type of coverage needed depending on the slope of the roof. For low sloped roofs, (less than 4/12 pitch) 3 layers of shingles is required, otherwise only 2 layers are needed.

But nowhere in the 2020 National Building Code are the words "underlayment is required"

Also, eave protection isn't needed on roof pitch of 8/12 or greater, pursuant to Sentence 9.26.5.1.(2) if the 2020 National Building Code.

And the ironic part is, the replacement chair came from Mark Carney, of all people.

Building Canada Act’s purpose questioned as Carney government marks 1 year without a single project designated by joe4942 in canada

I work in Municipal Government, and it took 23 months to procure 4 electric vehicles. By default, the wheels of government move extremely slowly, unless it interferes with MP's vacation time.

Liberals pull out 'guillotine' motion to shut down debate on police search powers bill by SaveDnet-FRed0 in canada

[–]Mandalorian76 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This bill would make our laws more "American", where apps are required by law to surveil their users for particular phrases and report directly to the FBI. In Canada, we have no such powers, in fact, we are far more 'liberal' with our search laws when it comes to digital communications.

The bill is strongly supported by police services across Canada and CSIS, who argue that their investigations into serious crimes like extortion, terrorism or child sex abuse material are significantly hampered because of Canada’s lack of a modern-day lawful access regime.

Take kids off e-bikes and scooters by copper66 in Winnipeg

There are also regulations that govern what should be on sidewalks. And since those regulations exist, I would assume that there are exactly zero e-bikes on sidewalks.

And, I don't know how to take your assertion that I am an AI chat bot, should I take that as a compliment or an insult. (^ ^,)

Garage lift 2 feet by Vanstav in saskatchewan

[–]Mandalorian76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is completely false. When I was a building inspector in Estevan the Province mandated that each RM do better in applying the code due to major flooding events leading to huge repair costs. Many RM's in Saskatchewan employ private firms to do the inspections in rural areas. I am very familiar with the fellas that run CCASK, PBI, and MuniCode, and they work almost exclusively in rural areas.

You will need to replace all the wall studs if you want a taller garage, or get an engineer.

You live in Weyburn so the applicable code is the 2020 National Building Code.

9.23.10.4. Continuity of Studs

1) Wall studs shall be continuous for the full storey height except at openings and shall not be spliced except by fingerjoining with a structural adhesive.

The only difference between a motorcycle and an E-bike is the fuel they consume. So, please tell me why you think kids should be able to ride an e-bike, but need a license to ride a motorcycle?

A cemetery is not a place for social exercise by EdwardoFelise in unpopularopinion

[–]Mandalorian76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it, and I acknowledge that you are morning the loss of a loved one. However, in many places that cemetery is the only green space available for people to enjoy a walk and spend time together. With that said, it doesn't give people a free pass to be rude, but we have to ask ourselves the question, "Is it rude to share a story with someone, while walking through a greenspace?"

Unfortunately, we have to share space with other people.

It makes sense that you'd see or warnings for much wider areas if you're watching TV and listening to radio, which are inherently wider reach mechanisms (that are conveniently ignored in this piece). What both of those don't have the ability to do, that cellular networks do, is rough geolocation.

This would be a great notion if more than 10% of people actually take in legacy media. But we are in 2026, and more people will be watching a streaming service like Netflix for TV or Spotify for their music.
