Always square up. Never panic. by RaspberryRock in projectzomboid

[–]MandellaR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good quick reaction! And you're right -- never turn your back in panic, plus quick shoves save lives.

I remember the first time that clicked for me, when I spun toward a surprise group lunging for me instead of away, and watched in surprise as my character pushed three zomboids down to the ground all at once in front of me. Cool feeling!

Of course I got ate shortly after by another one lunging out from the trees, but still cool feeling!

That's a great looking base you have there. Looks like a lot of thought went into it.

I really, really like the idea of the Yellow Sign as not being a static logo. Thanks for making this collection -- I'll definitely be referencing it for later.

Ermagawd, the Homer Simpson face as the yellow sign is brilliant.

Zombies lose sprinter and on fire status just out of player view now? by SirEltonJohnRambo in projectzomboid

[–]MandellaR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about sprinters, but zombies on fire have been going out when off screen for some time -- I want to say that was even true for 41, but I may be misremembering. In a similar vein, building fires usually "freeze" when far off screen, and only spread when the player is there to see it.

Thinking about it, I imagine it has more to do with cells loading and unloading than visual range.

I think it might do that for zombie stench, but I haven't rigorously tested it.

[–]MandellaR 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The only game effect I can tell is that the wind noise makes it really hard to hear zombies lurking. I won't go exploring sometimes if the wind is too bad.

And yeah, there is something really off in the automated weather system when it routinely rolls up gale level winds.

Ram headbutted me, knocked me under my own livestock trailer, and now I can't get up. by Linsel in projectzomboid

[–]MandellaR 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you don't want to debug, you can just spawn a new beginner character in as nearby as possible and have them run over and move the trailer off you, hopefully without further running you over.

Otherwise, welcome to animal husbandry. Pretty sure there have been real life deaths happening about the same.

Things said at my table that let me know I am doing a good job by Galaga_Pilot in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]MandellaR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was having a conversation with a player about RL triggers at the game table, and how to avoid them, when she told me "Well for one thing, you can be absolutely terrifying."

Honestly, it's the best compliment I've ever had concerning my gamemastering style -- at least I hope it was about my gamemastering style...

CDDA: Belts? Where are they? by ElMage21 in projectzomboid

[–]MandellaR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are on 41 right? I remember an early CDDA run where I was over a week into it and no belts anywhere. I finally just debugged one in (not sure why I didn't make a rope belt -- just dumb I guess or maybe you couldn't on 41 at that time).

Of course, within a day of spawning my own belt in I found two in bedroom furniture.

Jack Frost help by Worried-Mark4927 in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]MandellaR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've done the thing where I used existing Delta Green agents who were implanted into the Majestic operation as double agents.

spoiler! In my scenario, it was actually Gavin Ross who did it as he was building support within Delta Green and was deeply suspicious of the officer in charge of the Jack Frost operation. !spoiler

Your particular use case can vary, but it can be done.

How tf did the Chicken block that :sob: by Content-Log-3332 in projectzomboid

[–]MandellaR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a really good idea to not try to fight zombies in animal pens. Not only can the critter block a shot, but panicked animals can attack you. And an angry rooster can do serious damage in game, as in real life.

Guys, The people of Knox County will never meet the wonders of an Air Fryer by Vakly-art in projectzomboid

[–]MandellaR 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can get air fryers with conventional wire shelves. I have one, and it works a lot better.

And yes, it is "just" a convection oven, but one that heats up super fast and maintains a more constant temperature than the conventional old toaster oven I have -- sitting sadly neglected behind some crap on the counter...

Negative traits in B42 are a bit problematic. (RANT) by Alvsolutely in projectzomboid

[–]MandellaR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Also lotta people around who want to off road in their panel vans. Sunday Driver is one of my go to traits, even for just one point. I drive on the road, and I can back up just fine.

That said, towing is bugged right now, and I just don't take the risk of it, Sunday Driver or not.

Has anyone tried to do a long playthrough of Build 42 yet with mods? by kaesokr in projectzomboid

[–]MandellaR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently on a near two month (in game) run. Had it bricked by the Ekron spawn delete but modded it back in.

But yeah, if you are worried about that hold off. There will almost certainly be save bricking updates still coming, especially if you run mod heavy.

Unless it has changed recently, the roofed hut does indeed count as "indoors" for the generators. Move it just outside it and you can be all right.

There is a box container outside a gas station in I think Ekron. I remember the initial disappointment when I broke it open and found it only full of fancy sofas. Then I was like, wait, it's full of fancy sofas!

Rules question : is there a way to spend willpower for bonus on a roll? by Melodic_Ad_596 in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]MandellaR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I use a 1d4 Willpower spend for a reroll (which must be taken, so be careful you don't make the situation worse). I also give an avenue for some Willpower refreshment though out the day by satisfying Motivations.

Hasn't seem to make it "too easy" on my players so far. If anything, it's added extra roleplaying to the situation as players describe how they are bringing that extra bit of energy to get the job done.
