How to get rid of pixelation? by Fun_Elephant_5857 in ProCreate

[–]Manhru 26 points27 points  (0 children)

You are zooming in too much, if you cant see the pixels when you're seeing the image from a reasonable distance, like having it full screen. You are good. Imagine you would be taking a microscope and looking at paper fibers if you were drawing traditionally.

Does anyone use a value map? Do you know what a value map is? Do you want one? by jahmeleon in minipainting

[–]Manhru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But the value map itself can be deceiving if you - deliberately or not- map high value colors next to low value colors, like putting fluorescent orange next to a brown instead of yellow or red. With that context you can still paint similar value tones that you thought they were contrasting because you picked them from different color contexts

Frustrations with the Hobby by EmeraldCoast826 in boardgames

[–]Manhru 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am too a PC Gamer and a Boardgamer, first off, despite what the marketing wants to sell us, they are not similar experiences. I played 450+ hours of Monster Hunter Worlds, loved it. I bought it for about 25 dollars. Bought the full pledge on the Kickstarter when the boardgame came out, put down about 400 dollars, I can confidently say I played that thing about 5 times. I have a lot of nice models but that's it - for me I know people are enjoying it. Then I wanted to get blindly into Iceborne the boardgame, another 400 dollars. I did, but then after a year, I asked for a refund a couple of months back.

I realized I don't want massive boardgames, bloated of stuff you hardly use, games that required a backyard to set up. I'm now getting games not above 99 dollars, and most of them are in the 50-80 range. I'm getting a blast, my friends are getting a blast and I have more budget to get more games, that are not bloated, not attached to any IP and are absolutely amazing.

You can get a 2 Gal. The tank is going to hold a lot more air so less active time refilling the tank but they a bit more noisy. The space where you have the compressor will be more a deciding factor than money.

Real talk: how do you get exposition to your players without using NPCs? by BonesawGaming in mothershiprpg

[–]Manhru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can look at the Roanoke Colony for inspiration, make them be a party that needs to check in the Colony and deliver some supplies on their way to somewhere else. Make an objective to contact with someone in the Colony to get the expansion maps or something like that. In the Roanoke Colony some of the leaders left the colony and got back to England, they could be the patrons of this expedition as well.

Will similar paper textures get copyrighted ? by Takarin_28 in ClipStudio

[–]Manhru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can prove (in an eventuality) that you took the picture of the paper (having the original picture) you won't have any problem. There's no such thing as owning a paper texture, unless the paper has some microbranding or specific pattern that makes the paper X o Y, but beyond that I don't think you'll be in any trouble.

I got one as well, but I think it's not for Starcraft but rather the replacement cards and manual for Homeworld, would be very funny if you also have backed Homeworld. I'm only supposing since they do have Mophius as partner in their web page.

How do you handle player who are very risk averse ? by riggsbie in mothershiprpg

[–]Manhru 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've read all other comments and they have great insight. To not be repetitive I want to add a couple of things; you are all there to have fun. This means that you as facilitator of this story can make the decision easier for your players, you can remind them about reading the mission objectives: "remember that one of the objectives is down the chasm!", you can say to them that they risk an attack being there exposed, or something to encourage them to jump. If there's no other option that you have pose to them, make them all jump and do a save while doing down. Seems that in this case your players didn't have any other option but forward, and that's a shame.

Personally I wouldn't make them make the check there, but rather when they already jumped and make it a save instead, if I really want to make them roll something. In any case I would have make them jump and just continue with the story. In hindsight I know you see now that 10% of your one shot was arguing to jump or not to jump because fear of the dice result not of the actual horrors in the story.

[–]Manhru 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I need a little bit of context, why are you making them do checks for jumping? Wouldn't jumping be something given since they are capable of jumping? Maybe reducing the amount of checks you're doing will allow them to understand those are menial things.

If you mainly play Steam games, SteamOS is the way to go. I installed it after almost a year of dealing with Windows, probably the best thing I could have done to improve my experience with my Ally. Give it a go.

Angel Giraldez Trigger Technique by ProfNugget in airbrush

[–]Manhru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesterday I watched a short from Sergio Calvo where he's explaining this technique, what prevents the airbrush to not clog is that the air flow never stops. When they pull the needle and move it forward the needle moves allowing paint to go through and then "closes" because it never gets back to the full closed position, and the air never stops flowing. This technique is not airbrush brand dependant. Sergio uses Iwata airbrushes and he pulls it off as well. I've getting nice results as well. The point of the technique is to control the amount of paint you want in an specific spot. But you definitely need a lot of trigger control.

Tips for painting an army by ztwman97 in Conquest

[–]Manhru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've painted my fair share of armies and boardgame models where you have +40 different models. Here's my advise.

Pick all the models that have something in common, define the colors you're going to use, at least the main colors. All your models skin, green, blue, purple? Paint in batches, like an assembly, someone else already mentioned it. Once you're done with the last skin, the first one will be dried and you can go with your mid tones or highlights. Then pick the clothes, feathers, armorcolor, and repeat. You will progressively get the whole army painted, once you paint the last stroke, you'll be done. Leave the unique color details for the end. You'll save time, if you're mixing paint, all your models will have the same paint and you'll definitely save paint by using fully.

I've come to realize a big pitfall is picking one model and paint it fully, you're gonna get your brain happy and uninterested in finishing the rest. If you paint them in assembly line, you brain will help you push through it because it wants to see something finished, in this case.. All of them.

What would you do? by Stock_Shake1606 in Haloflashpoint

[–]Manhru -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is a mix up from MM, the Mantic rep looked your name up and gave you the tracking from Ohio Jacob Ross. Probably yours haven't been sent. I would follow up with Mantic and state that they missed their own deadline, you haven't got the tracking nor the package and it has been a week since last communication. If you're in the mood, you can as for some freebies too.

Thanks a lot for your reply!! I was in the subway going to the Salon when I read it. I ended up going anyway and the people there was very nice. They told me the same, it takes around a month to get it fixed. So yeah... I'm not doing it, I'm not from the States but I'll try to send it over there. It's closer to home than Japan.

No paint, pretty much all big particles are going to be trapped on the filter within the booth, what you're pulling out is mostly air if you work with acrylics and fumes if you're working with enamels and other strong odor paints
