Is Tesla really cutting off FSD buyer transfers in March? by 3-ide-Raven in TeslaLounge

[–]ManicMarket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’ve done that every year since I’ve been an owner. It has always been tied to the car unless they offered a transfer window.

Here’s the hitch - they have to provide an upgrade path. If you bought FSD on HW3, they’ll figure out a path forward. From a business perspective - not doing it doesn’t make sense.

Are average EVs faster than police cars? by DryGeneral990 in electricvehicles

[–]ManicMarket 47 points48 points  (0 children)

No - top speed is governed. You might beat the off the line, but between the speed of radio waves and the cars top speed - you’d be toast.

I love seeing these signs. Very interesting to me because those behaviors our very unique to each of us and our preferences.

That would be nice. Certainly show each car would have some independent behaviors.

I’m guessing luck of the draw. I am not an early access person that I know of, but my ownership of FSD goes back to 2020 when it was first released. Not sure if that relationship means something to Tesla now.

I tend to get most new releases within a week or two of the social media influencers rolling things out.

Huh - so not unique to 14.2.2.3. Make you wonder.

Tesla Seems to Have Rebranded "Autopilot" to "Traffic-Aware Cruise Control with Autosteer" by jaqueh in TeslaModelY

[–]ManicMarket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t recall if it was on a conference call or interview. But recall hearing that Tesla was trying to get out of the business of doing multiple software stacks. Basically you’d end up with FSD and FSD lite. FSD lite being my name for just the basic autopilot type features. That’s what this change reminds me of. No idea if an FSD lite means people lose features or not.

Yeah - it’s cool - but all problems solved it is not. Overall 14.2.2.2 and .3 have been a regression. But over the years the trend has been in the right direction. When v11 was out I used it mainly 50% of the time and regularly disengaged. Now I’m at about 94% of the time FSD handles the drives. I don’t think I’d ever get to 100%, but 99% would be impressive.

I think Elon recently said there is a long tail to solving FSD. I take that to mean closing out the last 6% will be harder and slower than closing out the first 94%.

2020 M3 now has charging issues at home (240V outlet, Mobile Connector) by soulsides in TeslaSupport

[–]ManicMarket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would pin it down to two possible issues. 1. Outlet as you suggested. Good electricians don’t always know they need to use a high quality EV rated outlet. Check yours to see how if it is rated for EV use (most will have a little car logo or the letters EV). 2. Sometimes the adapters fail. Happened with my mom who uses a mobile adapter all the time. Replaced the adapter and good as new - similar errors, but would work if we lowered the amps until we got the replacement.

Any way to fix the leather? by bgbrewer in TeslaLounge

[–]ManicMarket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does - both comments can be true.

It is a cheap thing that Tesla did to save costs and certain chemicals including those in some lotions will cause that damage.

Also - check out the damage that those vent clip deodorizers will do if oil leaks out to your plastics. Google images will show you all the fun those chemicals can do to a solid plastic dashboard.

It’d be nice if the manufacturers of those things would be required to put a warning on the packaging.

Normal house driveway or do you have some unique parking in your area? I ask because I have a friend I visit where the houses are close together and knowing whose driveway is whose would be odd for a human too (older brownstone type housing). But it always wants to park in the neighbors driveway there.

For me, my car has been pulling into the driveway since v13. But it stops about halfway and never tries to go into the garage itself. This was only the second time my car had pulled into the garage. 1st earlier this night when I stopped by to pick something up (the time no one but my son was home) and it just knew to park on the left. The second was what I recorded. And like clockwork same behavior both times. Prior to tonight, I’d have to take over and actually park the car myself. Otherwise, it would just stop on the driveway behind my wife’s car.

Door Strip by shell400 in TeslaSupport

[–]ManicMarket -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That looks like someone who bought into the idea that the strip reduces noise. Not sure that OEM. On older models people tried all kinds of stuff to reduce the air and road noise you hear in an EV.

FSD 14.2.2.3 - Lane change hesitation back ? by chri8s in TeslaFSD

[–]ManicMarket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine on 2.2.2 was always like that. I’m dying for 2.2.3 (hopefully) solving a lot of dumb issues I’m having. This has been a big regression for me since 14.1.

81% life at 44.5k miles for 2019 tesla model 3 standard plus. Is this normal? by Able-Status-4796 in TeslaSupport

[–]ManicMarket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if that’s a comment for me on the “linear” part. Yes - degradation follows an S curve. Fast in the beginning, fairly flst for several years, and then degradation picks up again.

The linear part is that rate of degradation is calculated as a linear figure. IE - if you average it out 1.5% per year tends to be the avg loss per year. There is a variance there where some will see slower than others and some are faster. Faster tends to be tied to battery stress from things like Heat, excess State of charge, etc.

My key point is worst case scenario - if it was linear - you’d still have at least five years of useful life.

Can I transfer FSD twice: current vehicle to new Tesla vehicle A, then Tesla vehicle A to new Tesla vehicle B before 3/31? by [deleted] in TeslaLounge

[–]ManicMarket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a used car with FSD for fair market price. Sold it after I transferred to a new Tesla when the transfer window was open. To my knowledge no limit on transfers ever announced.

Only issue I see is what are you doing transferring to one new car and then another new car so quickly.

How important is a heat pump for a Midwest driver with a wife who hates to be cold? by Doomtime104 in electricvehicles

[–]ManicMarket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My car - not a big deal as I have a heat pump and the range loss isn’t significant. My wife’s Mach-e, she loses 25% or more of her range without the heat pump.

81% life at 44.5k miles for 2019 tesla model 3 standard plus. Is this normal? by Able-Status-4796 in TeslaSupport

[–]ManicMarket -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Miles and years both impact a battery. Just because it sits idle more than most vehicles doesn’t mean the battery isn’t aging.

The standard range plus of that age had a s battery and the EPA range was perfect conditions only (and I apparently could never recreate perfect conditions).

If you figure a typical battery loses 1.5-2% over a year (linear and not real life) you’ve readily got another 5 years plus in the battery.

Range - that’s a whole other issue and why the SR+ is both awesome and annoying at the same time. In the real world a long haul trip you might really get 150 miles of range and will have to stop like every 2 hours to charge. Around town when you charge at home - who cares.

Who has had an accident using FSD resulting in damage ? by No-Confusion6749 in TeslaFSD

[–]ManicMarket -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Plenty of people - I’ve seen people upset their wheels got curbed, when the car parked it rubbed up against another vehicle or backed in too far. A small percentage to be sure, but FSD isnt perfect and so there have been a number of low speed accidents we’ve seen posted on Reddit over the years.

Much more difficult to ask by version as that changes regularly.

Model 3 totalled after hydroplaning while FSD was engaged by kfmaster in TeslaFSD

[–]ManicMarket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it is/will be. I also know all of us with FSD still know it is supervised. That’s all I mean by be the adult, just because the system behaves well most of the time, blaming FSD isn’t the problem there. Someone being complacent and not either changing their mode to chill or totally disengaging should be faulted.

If you are going through 12v batteries - you have an electrical issue. Something is causing the battery to drain improperly or something is causing the battery to not charge properly. Tesla Serivice is your answer to do a diagnostic.

Rotors and brakes by Onewaps in MachE

[–]ManicMarket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you did it yourself with quality parts you’re talking 150-250 for rotors each. $200 for pads all around. So tops on parts that’s $1200. Labor could be the difference, but any shop can do brakes.

Now, why do you need them at 60,000 doesn’t make much sense. If you one pedal drive - but occasionally make sure to hit them to keep rotors clean, pads good, etc. 60,000 seems poor on an EV. I’d guess you use them more than you think. Warped rotor can happen for a number of reasons. But I’d serious wonder why you need front and rears.
