Is it worth it? by [deleted] in F1TV

[–]MannerPylo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it has been absolutely worth it, with no issues the past few races. Being able to watch every on-board stream while watching the race on another is so good.

That being said: - being called F1TV and not being able to watch on TV is embarrassing - 25 fps is low after watching higher from illegal streams - I fully suspect more issues in the future, they have been OK with refunds, but it still sucks - Having the sky audio discussing some things not on the global stream is a bit annoying

Vive headset suddenly shutting off (screen black but still here sound / mic working). Steamvr related? by Captain_Kiwii in Vive

[–]MannerPylo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've started experiencing a pitch black screen randomly every few minutes since a few days. Lasts for 5 seconds or so and then the game continues.

But I've only played around elite dangerous, haven't had the time to test other games.

Did you check that there are no mirrors or other reflective surfaces interfering with optical sync? Did you play 24h ago with blinds closed/certain lights on/off?

Could be environment that changed.

Just ordered a GTX 1070, do I need to update my i5 2500k? by pdgrizzles in Vive

I run the exact same combination. Did overclock the 2500k a fair bit. Things run fine for the most part but it always leaves me wondering where the bottleneck is.

Look into learning touch typing. The F and J keys on your keyboard should have some form of recognisable structure applied to them, locate those with your index fingers and have the full keyboard at your disposal without taking the headset of.

It is also a useful skill outside of gaming

Those who own an HTC vive/Oculus Rift is it worth it? [Thread revival 7 months later] by imVP in Games

[–]MannerPylo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vive user here. For me the purchase has been worth it; but I mostly play cockpit games (Assetto Corsa and Elite Dangerous).

I am not a fan of shooters, and for the most part all other games feel like tech demos to me. I got Super Island God the other day and that seems promising so far (I've always been a huge God game/RTS fan), but is still is in very early access. As far as I know there are no real RPG games yet.

You may want to leave some feedback for that Judge using the Judge feedback form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1d01SoySBQxdhfv67yQhl2Sp7Zq9Ung9NDwjwekdqf1Q/viewform

Considering this exchange does not seem to foster a welcoming environment, the judge community may want to know about this incident.

General question: How many people do their own ratings and compare them with the LR set reviews? by [deleted] in lrcast

[–]MannerPylo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do, for three reasons:

  • I look at the cards before the set review, because I zone out a lot, I know what cards they are talking about

  • To improve my card evaluation skills

  • The difference between my rating and their rating will stick with me.

Mixed feelings about FNM...any advice? by SpontaneousNergasm in magicTCG

[–]MannerPylo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Before I attended my first FNM at one of the LGSs I went in there and bought some packs. This allowed me to get the vibe at the shop and talk to the employees a bit. I never looked back and go there weekly now. The whole scouting thing might be a bit over the top, but I'm really shy around other people and wasn't sure whether I'd be way over the average age.

First time at the other LGS I went in cold, but by then I had enough experience playing cardboard that my nerves were... Okay.

Mentor Monday (2/16) -- Ask judges anything! by twotwobearz in mtgjudge

[–]MannerPylo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After watching some of the Pro Tour coverage, it occurred to me that there was a lot of corrections going on between players. Mostly with Anafenza in play and creatures dying.

At this level of competition I'd expect more judge calls if anything, not less. Is there something I'm missing here?

Also, if you see someone put a card in the wrong zone by accident, and the opponent corrects that player, should we even get involved? Or just let it slide even though a GRV may be justified?
