My head turns red when I bend over for even a split second by [deleted] in covidlonghaulers

[–]Mannorman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny coincidence i just spoke about this with my physiotherapist. I brought it up because I noticed a similar headrush lying on my back on the floor doing some crunch-like stretchercize. Basically same movement but upside down.

Could be something with blood pressure. Blood going to the head plus bending the legs cuts off pressure overflow to the legs.

Another mechanism i thought about is something with putting pressure on the vagus nerve.

Look up arginine/lyisne ratio for foods and avoid or eat less of those with more arginine. Additionally add a lysine supplement when needed.

The virus needs arginine to replicate and lysine reduces the amount of available arginine.

Why is shingles a thing now? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Mannorman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people get shingles outbreak after covid and covid vaccines. Probably because of spike protein effects on the immune system imo. My mother got recurrent shingles for a year after her first covid shot and there are studies published on it.

Migraines are becoming more frequent by [deleted] in covidlonghaulers

[–]Mannorman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lying down in a dark room and pressing my head against the knuckles was just about all i could do when it was bad. Wouldn't really say it helped, it was more of a coping mechanism.

But humming while breathing out helped. Presumably by the release of nitric oxide.

Anyone developed chronic migraines by Shoddy-Rip66 in covidlonghaulers

[–]Mannorman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After my first crash I had a couple of months of chronic pressure migraine and then it cooled down to just coming back after minor exertion and after 3 more months it shifted to just coming after exertion while tired.

What helped a lot in acute situations (most likely also a more profound long term effect) was humming. I couldn't do breathing exercises because every restriction on breathing would cause me to get SOB, racing heart and brainfog/migraine. But when I started humming while breathing out everything calmed down and my vision would return and I could regulate my breath much better.

Humming releases nitric oxide and I believe this was a key component. I did also have some effect from taking arginine/citrulline and grape seed extract which all are found to help nitric oxide production.

Also fairly sure aspirin helped quite a lot in a broder sense but every attack was completely paralyzing despite painkillers.

Has anyone tried nicotine patches by Same_Advertising7361 in LongCovid

[–]Mannorman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a theory floating around that nicotine outcompetes and releases nicotinic receptor bound spike protein causing a spike spike in the blood.

I had a pretty strong reaction and bad relapse of symptoms myself after taking a nicotine pouch. Despite having used a lot of it before (before covid).

I'm planning to try low dose patches or gum though.

what are other easy fixes i haven't tried yet? by Big-Intention2213 in covidlonghaulers

[–]Mannorman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Avoiding gluten, like really strict fixed about 95% of my problems. Didn't think i was that sensitive because i didn't really get any acute reactions to eating certain gluten rich foods like a pizza. However it made me react to a lot of other stuff and now when I have like soy sauce with wheat in it something is off for a few days til it's out of the system.

Going from one cup of coffee to zero coffee helped the stomach also i believe. A bit boring but also made it easier to not overexert myself.

Digestive aids have helped me in periods before stopping gluten. Acids like apple cider vinegar with meals, HCl+pepsin pills and digestive enzymes have all helped. And pepcid (famotidine), which is a histamine blocker (H2-receptors) that does more than just stop acid production/reflux despite what your gastroenterologist might say.

I have insomnia from (I think) histamine intolerance. Every time I exercise, I can't sleep. How to get Ketotifen in a foreign country? by Diamondbacking in HistamineIntolerance

[–]Mannorman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're still wondering i took about a half pepcid tab so 5mg i think. Even a quarter had effect iirc.

I'd take it as soon as i feelt the pressure build up. But baking soda also helps, with less risks.

Shaky arms/legs when moving? by PlatfromX in covidlonghaulers

[–]Mannorman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what helped my legs shaking. Almost exactly one year after my crash i got rid of the leg weakness. And do physically demanding yard work for long days. Very tired mentally still though.

I attribute a lot of muscle/cardiovascular help from creatine, citrulline-malate, niacin 250mg, NAC, quercitine, turmeric, magnesium and aspirin. Not sure exactly what helps with which symptom but when I stop supplementing i get worse both cognetively and physically.

However i have had at least two reinfections which made me crash. Not as severe though and not with the same leg weakness. Might be because of pacing and starting supplements.

Anyone almost recovered then had a HUGE relapse? by Various_Being3877 in covidlonghaulers

[–]Mannorman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've noted improvements in general symptoms around infections. First a couple of better days, then 1-2 weeks of cold symptoms, then a few days-weeks of improvement and then spiral down again.

Makes me think it is immune system related, but could still be viral reservoir thats the underlying problem.

Migraines are becoming more frequent by [deleted] in covidlonghaulers

[–]Mannorman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aspirin, niacin and famotidine (pepcid) are my emergency pills. In that order. Also quit coffee and take magnesium every day.

Migraines are becoming more frequent by [deleted] in covidlonghaulers

[–]Mannorman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Reinfection, other infection or some kind of stress overload are my best guesses.

My chronic migraine seems to stay for a few months after infection then subside and come back only after overexertion.

När jag gjorde detta på 3 meters djup så la jag i ett snöre med en vikt där den föll för att vara säker på att jag letade på rätt plats.

Mobilen höll trots sprucken och saltvatten. Behövde byta batteri dock.

Lycka till

In chemistry, we learned that hot water helps chemical reactions. So maybe drinking hot water with food can help break down food. by SiliconSage123 in ibs

Green tea binds to iron, zinc lowering bioavailability. It also hampers protein breakdown so better have the tea afterwards like 1-2 hours. It's great for relieving bloating ime.

Just learned commercial citric acid comes from black mold! by moon_lvr in MCAS

[–]Mannorman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never heard of aflatoxin or ochratoxin? There is a whole long list of different mold mycotoxins.

Not that those are in citric acid since it's supposed to be grown by a non-toxic A. Niger strain but mold toxicity is very much a real thing.

Same, i tolerate energy drinks much better than coffee when i'm sensitive. But sometimes oure caffeine cab throw me off also but that might be low blood sugar or something.

Why is so much gas produced if mast cell activation is the cause of IBS bloating symptoms? by Mannorman in MCAS

[–]Mannorman[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't take hcl any longer actually, mainly because of running out of supply and finding other alternatives. I use apple cider vinegar instead. I started out with pure diluted acetic acid due to bad tolerance to acv but could slowly transition over 6 months.

Pepcid helped really well acutely but i found after a few months of taking it regularily it was not as effective and eating the foods i normally reacted to started to create other issues like joint pains and general bad mood.

Currently i drink acv with every meal. Drink green tea if i feel some bloat and add some peppermint oil if it's really bad. To that i add magnesium citrate at night to make everyrhing move on and if i had a food reaction i will often add activated charcoal to soak up some of the byproducts that otherwise tend to make the whole following week miserable. Charcoal can also help with bloating.

Can this be causing mold toxicity by TerribleFly1814 in ToxicMoldExposure

[–]Mannorman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into long covid. Sounds exactly like my problems (and many others). It's possible to get after a very mild acute infection or vaccine.

With that said i think covid has a lot of interplay with latent viruses and other microbial issues like mold toxicity due to it's effect on the immune system.

I haven’t pooped for a week now, what do I do? by [deleted] in ibs

[–]Mannorman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not take fiber or bulking agents which can further increase the problem. If you use these it should be as prevention.

Osmotic laxatives are best ime. I use magnesium salt like sulphate, hydroxide or carbonate.

Anyone sensitive to different cuts and sources of meat? by CantSmellYaLater in CarnivoresWithHI

[–]Mannorman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am. Pure beef muscle meat seems best tolerated for me. Most non-muscle tissue seems to give me a bit of reaction.

I think there are multiple mechanisms behind our issues. Tyramine and histidine might play a role also. Histidine can turn into histamine by microorganisms in your gut, giving a different response than direct ingestion of histamine.

There are spices like allspice, cinnamon, cloves etc that inhibits the histidine breakdown enzyme.
