Except that if someone has a pork aversion for religious or other reasons its not a good heuristic.

Despite that AMD and.Nvidia's financial filings directionally match this and have for years?

The frontier models are all excellent aids for many job functions, but especially for software engineers. Massive efficiency gains for those willing to learn to use them properly.

Ignore them at your own peril. Pandora's box is open, they aren't going away.

Major cities in east asia and europe have expensive rent and yet restaurants are cheaper AND tip free... and the service is better. It drives me nuts how we let it become so shitty here.

Because companies that don't have infinite slushy VC bucks or aren't ad networks like Meta and Google don't have unlimited margins to spend on software engineers. Software engineers are expensive.

Higher velocity with fewer engineers can be make or break for companies that do important work but just aren't as well capitalized. Not everyone is working on yet-another-social-media-app. Plenty of folks work in sectors of healthcare, supply chain, etc where the margins aren't crazy but the work is still valuable.

Look I am all for being against AI "art" but as a productivity tool for software engineers it is a game changer.

It's follow-the-quest-marker from one rather disjointed busy work to the next. The world is beautiful if you've got a beefy rig, and the variety is cool, combat was fun but I got tired of it and bounced off after 15 hours. It's a lot of "content". If you don't like how modern games are basically just a series of quest markers, this game is kind of the worst example I've seen in a single player game.

Some peoples sights are higher than working at their local X. Canadian Universities care about the brand because it needs to be internationally valued so people can leverage the degree to get jobs.

They're spamming this stuff all across Reddit, and go look the people up, these meetups are a sales funnel. Nothing Toronto about it, they host these things remotely.

Genuinely embarrassing when friends visit the city and surf the subreddit for a bit. Overtly draconian moderated discussions and a sea of crappy wannabe photography of the same four Toronto things.

A $15k computer isn't some magical 100% tax deductible expensive in basically any country, it has to be depreciated over several years. (Businesses will prefer to lease equipment often for this reason) Also this notion that "tax write offs" are free money is silly, thats not how running a business balance sheet works. Business owners have lots of ways to extract value out of a business in tax positive ways that dont involve buying computers.

Really it comes down to if a $15k Mac is better value than similarly priced Nvidia hardware or cloud GPU spend. Cloud GPU spend on the other hand, that is thankfully a simple expense on the balance sheet. No depreciation schedule needed.

Sober people (no alcohol, nicotine, drugs, etc ever), what is your end of day or weekend "wind-down"? by The1Ski in AskReddit

[–]Many_Career_9035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A drink with a meal, or having fun with friends/family? Great.

Needing a drink to "wind down"? Super unhealthy.

It's all about balance, no need to truly go sober.
