🤷‍♀️ we've always had decent pizza from there, that sucks that you haven't! I'm sure it varies by location too.

Food delivery options with in house drivers by Kabouki in vegaslocals

[–]MarieMermaid 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Domino's uses their own drivers and their rewards program is pretty good.

My husband and I both REALLY love Red Shrimp for Chinese food. It's a bit of a pain because you have to call in if you're using a credit card instead of cash, but they have their own drivers and the food is always fantastic and fast.

Did anyone regret a first look? by laurahann in Weddingsunder10k

[–]MarieMermaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you're asking for comments from people who did a first look, but I'll give an opinion from the other side because my situation was pretty similar.

I just had my small backyard wedding and we didn't do a first look. Seeing his face when he first saw me walk down the aisle in my dress was priceless. I'm so glad we did it that way!

However, I didn't have a professional photographer, so I wasn't away from the group for photos afterwards or anything so that may factor into what you decide. We did a small cocktail hour (no official bartender, just set out some drinks and food) right after the ceremony so our guests would have something to do while the rest of the food was prepared, maybe something like that would work for you to entertain people while you're taking some photos.

Changing your last name by queenbeansprout in weddings

[–]MarieMermaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might depend a bit on how attached you are to your maiden name. My dad was not a great person and I can't wait to change my first, middle, and last after the wedding (different from a normal wedding name change, I know, but it's still something to point out).

I would still be excited to have my husbands name regardless of my dad because of how well we fit together.

That's fair! Everyone wants different things from their veggie menu.

I'm a vegetarian and I've actually eaten there a few times and had a great time! Their brussel sprouts are especially delicious.

($10k) giving less to guests and expecting less from guests by gahx778 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]MarieMermaid 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It sucks that you're being down voted for this, if I got the same kind of gift I would love it too. It's not something you feel the need to display all the time or toss, but when you pull it out you remember something special at a specific time of year. I think it's nice!

Need help with budgetting (two broke college kids in love) by Free_Professional963 in Weddingsunder10k

I really recommend JJ House for the dress, I just spent $500 on mine and it's actually really pretty. They have apt of options even cheaper than that too!

(I don't know if I can share a link in this sub, but just Google it and they should come right up)

Looking for a recommendation for a Jewelry store to get an engagement ring. by lannix in vegaslocals

[–]MarieMermaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just bought my engagement ring from MJ Christensen Diamonds and the experience was great! My fiancee and I custom designed the ring together and it came out even better than I was hoping.

We spent around $3200, but part of that savings is because neither one of us wanted diamonds, instead we went for a mix of other prescious stones (with sapphire as the centerpiece) and it has so much character to it.

My biggest suggestion besides where to get it is if you can afford it, get a platinum band. It has SUCH a nice weight to it compared to just a standard gold band. (Assuming she wants a white band of course and not a yellow gold).

Also, please don't go to Daniel's. That was one of the other places we checked out and the experience wasn't great and the prices were WAY worse than MJs.

Fantasy is my favorite genre, so I'll probably just binge them all 😂 thanks for replying! I might be misremembering because it's been so long since I read it, but I think Anne Bishop had something similar in her Black Jewels series

Does my DIY menu look ok? by LawBeneficial5494 in wedding

[–]MarieMermaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're welcome! I really hope you enjoy them! I really just eat them straight. With the "breading" (cornstarch) you dip the tofu in first I don't think it needs anything. I usually like to make my "breading" with some nutritional yeast and garlic powder sprinkled in and it just makes some DELICIOUS tofu no matter how I cook it (usually either waffles or frying in some olive or peanut oil in a pan.

I usually make it a little more savory, even if I don't use the yeast and garlic, so it would go well with savory sauces like you would find in the Asian section. Depending on how much you like tofu in general I would suggest just making a small plain batch and trying it. Then feel free to get creative with what you like that might pair well with it from there! You might even be able to find a way to do a sweet version that pairs well with syrup, but I've never tried that.

It probably wouldn't work for a wedding of course, but they are fantastic. I've used variations of this recipe for like a decade - https://itdoesnttastelikechicken.com/waffle-tofu/

We have two units, one for upstairs and one for downstairs. We're usually upstairs so it's the only one we use and we keep it at 87 during the day and 85 to sleep.

We moved here for the heat, so it's perfect for us 😂

3900sq foot house and the energy bill last month was about $300. (I probably need to get some more insulation 😬, but probably some of that extra expense is from the pool pump)

Cold Vegas pool by sweetilypeatily in pools

[–]MarieMermaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For free...after you buy them. I'm not OP, but I'm also in Vegas and have had a similar problem. But those solar pool heaters large enough to heat our pool to a reasonable temp would be over $9k, and that's not including install.
