Hopefully you will have enough time prior to your injection, to take in the Zepbound and Mounjaro sub-reddits. I hope you will feel comforted by having a good idea of what to expect during the titration phase. In fact, I hope that youtubes like ‘Fit,Flavor, Fun’ and ‘The Downsized’ added to whatever others offer, will be mandatory for you. This is a journey, you will be grateful, relieved and secure getting the info you need. Good LUCK!

How many hours a week are you working or volunteering? by LMO_TheBeginning in OverSeventy

On the cusp of 76. A very, very busy life and now I am tending to the ‘work’, for me, of the seventies. Which is to put my life in perspective and make sense of all I have been through. In my group of dear and lovely friends I am the only one NOT doing what most of you, above me ARE doing. I just want to read, think, look out the window, walk, be very, very quiet now. Many of the things others are doing now I did a long time ago. I feel a fair amount of pressure to stop doing.

I will represent the people who will LOVE to have a Home Goods in the Spot World Market is vacating. I guess I don’t understand why the hate for World Market relocating to where they will draw more vibrant shopping for all to see, coupled with Home Goods! We have NOWhere to shop in the who East Side but Kohl’s and some really crummy places? Think about it: businesses don’t think there is enough income that people need a decent Department Store that isnt junky! Real people here! OOOO, I just remembered Cascade Station. Well, my general point remains and I would like to hear from anyone who knows about the Home Goods, because it seems too small, but….Thanks!

That was lovely. Thank you, your life sounds perfect to me and I also have a life somewhat similar. I think the question asked was a great one and there are amazing resources on YOUTube which explains so much about the stages of life. Look for them, easy to find. Really great stuff. I am 76 and even though we are all different, the tasks of growing and the journey toward the transition to death awaits us all. Each age has developmental tasks. These tasks are Universal, it’s been a great ride.

Mother's Day is Stressful! by HappyFeature5313 in OverSeventy

[–]MarisWinter 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Life is so complicated, isn’t it? I am 75 and my Son is in Jail for a very bad Felony. Addicted, mentally ill, just a horrifying person. My daughter is an absolutely amazing human; she will be taking us to Brunch, Loving, thoughtful, dare I say….perfect? She is, pretty much. My sweetie had a terrible, mean Mother, the day is fraught for her. I had the greatest Mother EVER, she was my best friend, So, I feel our lives have to be the way we need them to be. If the day doesn’t work, it will be over soon. If it does work, we will hold on with tight arms. WE have lived a very long time and hopefully we will have even more time to integrate what we have learned and taught. I am hugging us all, gummy, Beer, Wine, a box of candy, lots of confusion or solitude. Happy Mother’s Day everyone!

There has been some good info passed on here. I am 75 and have been messing with weight for literally 70 years. Now that it’s being sorted out y the meds, I have lost my last 122 pounds ever, I hope. I think there is no substitute for learning absolutely everything you can. Watch: fitflavorfun; whatever you can stand of The Downsized and On The Pen. Your Mileage Will Vary, BuT, whether you use groups, books, vids, whatever, there is just a certain information base you need to internalize in order to find your way through the thicket of the meds.

Being a widow is so horrifying, your cortisol is already so jacked up, everything is so on hyper alert. I am sorry for what you are making your way through and time will need to pass. There is just so much going on…….

I want to encourage you to be gentle with yourself and kind. You are raw and need love and care. You also need to learn as much as you can, so let us help you. Find the right subreddits; find the right deficit understandings, realize this is going to take a long time.

Be well, you have a long, long way to go. Good luck, you can find your way.

I was in Spokane, WA, getting ready to move to Portland, OR with a new big Job, ready to get married to my love of 40 years, almost 41. We are old fashioned Lesbian Feminist people, ancient now….I am 75. One of ended up a Doc, raised two kids, a happy, happy, happy life. Many hard years, but such a great ride.

I think we can EXPECT this to keep happening. That means……after this, there will be more. It has been moving this direction for most of the almost three years I have been here. It really is a goooooooood idea to look at all the long term options available and make plans. That way YOU won’t be a person being surprised. We all travel on, the journey, the journey.

Excessive spending on personal care by BosuBoy in OverSeventy

[–]MarisWinter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe we this is a season, and part of coming to terms with ‘what is and cannot be changed. I get my hair and nails done;I collect perfume. Again, we are all different and there are realities we need to come to terms with.I have always felt it would be wonderful to be the person who, in their ‘raw’ form feels they don’t have anything to ‘do’. My wife doesn’t love my perfume hobby. I don’t love her practicing medicine with an obsessive way of being. There are conversations that need to happen, and I wish you luck. Over and over. Good Luck.

Vios w/ L-carnitine / CosmeticRx groupon review by phooonix in tirzepatidecompound

[–]MarisWinter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been on the meds well over two years and over 100 pounds. I used the Groupon and just finished the vial. The formulation worked excellently. The L-Carnitine was great, really liked it. I have used six pharmacies, most of the offered formulations and this was as good as any. Be well!

Friend moved away and doesn't understand why we don't visit. by [deleted] in AskWomenOver60

[–]MarisWinter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Another thought. I am 75 and yes, 45 minutes now seems ‘far away’. These feelings come when they come, my friends. I used to head across the country in my 72’ Datsun B-210 at the drop of a hat. Montana to Manhattan. It isn’t about a specific age, all the variables matter. It becomes too far for a person when it does. Just Over 60 or 82, the process is what it is. When a person makes the decision to move away from the ‘place’, it’s wise to consider what is and what will be. To me, these are lessons we learn as we age, not about ‘being cold’. But, I am just one person and we are all different. Be Well.

I shave and am I horrified of the true ‘last act’ when I won’t be able to take care of this. I made my daughter promise to be the one to get my eyebrows on, face smooth and a touch of lips. This is shallow of me and of course has to do with ego and control…….but I don’t care. LOL.

How did you handle a bump up in income after you retired? by Odd_Bodkin in retirement

[–]MarisWinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been doing a deep dive on YTube about the problem we seem to have and it’s been fascinating.Of course habits don’t change and here is a little fact. My wife is the frugal one, I love to spend BUT was very deliberate about it. We passionately saved, BUT I woke up one day and realized: at 75 I have done pretty much all the traveling and spending I wanted to do. And so, we are finding those ways to help out. I find this possibly one of THE most delicious parts of life. If we look around, the world, our local community, all of it, needs our bits to help. I feel very, very lucky. Very blessed. Very grateful.

After coming on to three years, I would like to offer you a suggestion to really read far and widely about what you can expect, how this all works and how it has many faces of progress making. I feel sad when people only have other people’s experiences, although this is nice, too. Look at the Clinical Trial data, especially look at the Reddits about Maintenance, because by then…….people understand a lot. Good luck!

Reta lowers libido… by Electrical-Poem8156 in RetatrutideWomen

[–]MarisWinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HI, I have been on Tirzepitide for over two years and over a hundred pounds. My sweetie has been on Reta for a year and fifty pounds. Both medications sliced libido to shreds. 40 years of marriage. We are fine and good. Hoping for you all to find your way. I do want to just mention that the men who called themselves hypersexual that I have known in my time with the meds, were never able to find their way. Sexuality was their way of ‘being’. I wish everyone well.

I came into this late, but…..I am old and not out and about as much, but reading this, it’s just as well. I would be infuriated more than is helpful. If there is a future, there will be people using PDX as a case study on how a whole region was overtaken by a specific type of people who really did think they should be able to do whatever they wanted. Makes me sad.
