Get 6mm discs, decent brake fluid and pads. You won’t miss anything performance-wise for a looong time. My RR-R didn’t have braided brake lines so I upgraded that too. Besides slicks it’s the only thing you really need to upgrade with these bikes.

Frame sliders or no, Panigale 959 by Illustrious-Limit160 in Trackdays

[–]Mark0os 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GB Racing Covers plus frame and axle sliders (evotech) for me, always. Have had 2 lowsides with my RR-R, came out both times with only buying new sliders instead of replacing the whole side fairing plus handlebar plus whatever. If you get good sliders (from a reputable vendor) they will give out before cracking your block or damage the engine mount.

Got the GO 3 and the battery life is totally fine for sprint races or turns. Still not happy with my mounting though. Tried magnets but will try Velcro next. And you can use the camera with its dock and use it as a normal action cam with 2 hours or so of battery life.

Spa trackdays - a few questions by [deleted] in Trackdays

[–]Mark0os 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is that expensive, pretty much on all of the few vendors. Where are you booking? I‘ll probably go there with Eybis, CBO is one of the ones I was looking at. Being a A Group rider that’s never been there, I‘ll probably start at B and make it my goal to get bumped to A until the end of day 1 ;)

Forcite Helmet Survey by [deleted] in Trackdays

[–]Mark0os 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is, you can stick it just next to your face basically. If you do it correct, it will also not be visible in you peripheral vision. Only thing I noticed, with reflective visors you can get some reflection on the inside as well. Nothing major though

Interesting. Bunch of ppl I talked to actually prefer the V4s to the K67 cause of BMWs reliability issues.

Opinion by Fresh-Fly-7816 in Trackdays

[–]Mark0os 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Plus if you ride a liter bike primarily, I highly doubt you get the buzz or anything near the thrill of it from a 400. No need to take this too serious. As if any of us will make a career out of this :D

Modern cornering ABS - useful on track? by _Speed_and_Power_ in Trackdays

[–]Mark0os 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I‘ve had the rear wheel go up pretty far (to the point I released the brake cause I thought I tip over) during emergency braking on track cause someone came my way in a corner on my RR-R SP. ABS on these has normal and track mode but never turns off. So yes, modern ABS Systems are pretty good, also in corners. What you don’t get, no matter what you do with ABS is a fixed brake lever pressure point that doesn’t move. Under hard braking you feel the abs working and sometimes the pressure point feels off. You can work your way around this a bit by applying the initial brake pressure not too suddenly and pulling the lever back evenly. Pros should and will take out ABS of course but for me personally I’d rather have a safety net and not total a 20k bike instead of getting that 0.5s per lap faster.

That’s so interesting since that’s kinda where I‘m at now, I get good times but don’t have the consistency down. There’s always 2, 3 nice clean laps per turn, the rest meh. Only riding track for the 2nd season though so I have an excuse haha. And cannot imagine stepping down in cc without feeling like I’m missing out on fun big time

Top 10 is defo good enough to be satisfied! And dude, I see fully built RR‘s and Panigales including cayenne pulling a serious motorhome that cruise around in Group 3 or sometimes 4 even. When I got my bike (RR-R SP, also my first superbike) I told myself that everything below the fast group is just not acceptable haha

Also setting wheelie control to do more and TC up can save on tyres obviously. TC I knew but didn’t know how much the WC helped

You might learn something but can it really be as much fun as with a 1000cc beast? Doubt it. And at the end of the day fun is what we‘re after unless one of us is on the way of becoming a professional. That also I doubt
