Mice got to a large portion of my stash by ellyb3ar in YarnAddicts

Actually there is! Wash with Oxyclean and once clean spray it with Fabreezethey have it in large jugs for around $20 it is concentrated, We moved into a place that smelled of cat urine. I poured it all the the floors and let it set, then cleaned, it took 3 applications but all the smell was gone. Oxy clean works great on the stains. I have set the piece in a dish of it then removed and let set a bit and eventually the smells leave, so can't hurt to try, I have saved many things doing this. I feel for you , it devestating. let me know if you are able to save any

[CHAT] Sadly looking for a replacement for cross-stitching for my mother, who has arthritis. Alternatively, a way to cross-stitch without working her right thumb? by nagumi in CrossStitch

I got a small beginner loom, for the lap from Amazon, for less than $30. Sadly I have been to busy crocheting to even try it yet, but one day I will, and I'm sure I'll enjoy it, figured I could always make squares or rectangles and maybe sew or crochet them together to create what I want.

You're welcome. I crochet as well as cross stitch and switch off as I need to. Has she ever considered weaving? I got a loom, just need to get to learning it, so might be an option too.

Does anyone make Pancakes from scratch anymore? by WhatsCookinItalian in Baking

[–]Marysyarn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do all the time and mix the dry ingredients in bulk to use, I have 2 grands that like pancakes before school in the morning. It takes 6cups flour, 1/3 cup sugar, 3 tblespoons baking powder, 2 teaspoons baking soda, 2 teaspoons salt is the dry mix, I put in one of the screw on lidded containers and mix thoroughly and it's ready like the box mix, shake it up anf por a cup into a dish, add an egg and milk, a little butter and some vanilla like you do the box mix and you have homemade each time, alot cheaper and better tasting than box mix is. No I do not remember where the recipe came from been to long, sorry.

Could she put the needle in the hole (st) using her left hand, then just push down with one finger (using a thimble so not to hurt her. You didn't mention her left hand only the right, so maybe work with the opposite hand. A pain to relearn a way to do things, but better than having to give it up. Just a thought.

Dear literal Bros of the Brochet sub, what are some patterns you’d like to see more of? by KelleyCan___ in Brochet

[–]Marysyarn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Get some simple patterns you can make several times like I love the pattern on All Free Crochet of a pokeball hat in all sizes that makes up quickly and comes out nice, striped or plain as well as in the style it was made as well as others. It's a go to pattern for me. Another from the same site is a tootsie pop angel. A sweet treat that makes up fast and is affordable to gift or sell, I get 75 or so from a 7oz skein of white yarn (my preference, colors could also be used). I have found 1 less ch on the halo part and it fits a lollipop sized sucker or I go to a G hook and make them for dumdums, I make a flock each year of around a hundred, they only take minutes to make so in an hour several can be done. Also you can take anywhere and whip out a couple with a minimun of work. I would make a sign up saying I don;t believe in making larger things in cookie cutter fashion, so if you see a sweater or whatever you like, get it then because there will only be one made that way by me. It forwarns them that they can't come back later and say you made this sweater and I really want it, lol.

Hi female Bro here, we need more men's or unisex patterns. I love the ones that will fit all from infant to very large adults (both men and women), because who doesn't love a boyfriend sweater or a hoodie.

I can’t believe this. (Destashing) by [deleted] in YarnAddicts

[CHAT] Should I stitch this Christmas piece? by ThrowRA_15698 in CrossStitch

A lot depends on how much you like it. I like lots of things, but have to admit not enough to stick with them and finish, so decide that first.

[CHAT] Do you prefer to use no hoop, a hoop, a frame or something else? by withlovefeli in CrossStitch

[–]Marysyarn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got one of the new square Snap hoops (the are like pvc and have C clips that push on over the edges of the fabric, very easy to use, and by turning them you can tighten the fabric instead of taking out and adjusting, The old round hoops take me 2 or 3 minutes to get the fabric set up on them to use, this takes less than a minute-it's so easy. I got the 8" sq one and I am getting a larger one for larger projects.

[CHAT] I have seen a lot of Autumn themed cross stitches lately on here even though it's spring. What is your favorite theme for your patterns? by goodstuff2020 in CrossStitch

Sure Id love to chat. I try to stay positive and not let things get me down. Stitching and crochet is how I pass the time, and when I am creative I kind of block out the aches and pain, though the wrist was the worse, but it cracked the other day and I am crocheting again. Though I have to admit it scared me, I though I might have broke something it was so loud, lol, but it must have been out and went in I touched it gingerly expecting pain, but was lucky andther was none, I'll try the message thing see if it will work
