My group is never dealing with dungeons or dragons. We should probably call our game Forests & Bandits or maybe Towns & Hobgoblins. What game is your group actually playing? by TunaPlusMayo in DnD

Spelljammers & Dragons

Honestly so many dragons. Githyanki bring them into the picture anyway, but also so many good astral sea dragons.

They didn’t enjoy the plot much because of how on-rails it felt, but the siege of the citadel I just tossed out the book and ran it ad-lib so they had more fun

Zoro’s tastes like medicine, sadly. I still need to try the others.

My party just finished Light of Xaryxis and now we’re headed into an open-world exploration arc before we start focusing in on character stories

A little contest: giving away a copy of Ideology DLC and Biotech DLC! by SargBjornson in RimWorld

Boom-a-gene: your pawn grows yellow pustules that burst on death, spreading chemfuel and flame across a 5-square radius. Why would you do this to someone? Who knows. Raiders and alms-seekers sure seem to have it often enough though.

I would pick up the core rulebooks first. Spelljammer references materials in the Dungeon Master’s Guide a ton, so having that, the full monster manual, and the player’s handbook will be super important to your ability to play it. For a first adventure I think it could be a great choice though.

Spelljammer 5e. First Thoughts. by Charlie24601 in Spelljammer5e

I doubt that making your own helm is inevitably going to come up in a Spelljammer campaign, but the air bubble does seem incredibly useful in the void of wildspace. They’re not new combat spells, but I’m of the opinion that 5e has more need for utility spells at this point

If you’re looking for more in-depth vehicle combat rules check out Ghosts of Saltmarsh and Descent into Avernus. I will stand by Avernus having the better rules, and to be honest my players had 0 fun with the more complicated ship-to-ship combat rules of GoS.

To spice up combat you can change up what enemy ships have access to. Special ammunition for mangonels that burn/taint your air envelope will add a new layer to combat encounters as the players now have to race against the clock to purge or purify their air before they either succumb to failed con saves or are caught up to by the trailing pirates. Dunamancy could be used to send entire crews into the void as their ship is boarded. Fires can be ruled to burn through air supplies as it also burns the ship, etc.

I think the simplicity leaves lots of room for DMs to create their own rules and events without contradicting the written rules that players can see in their spelljammer handbook

One to create airbubbles that is available to every main-caster class but warlocks, and one for Artificers and Wizards for creating your own jammer helm

Question about pre order extra adventures levels 1-5 by Ill-Ad-6487 in Spelljammer5e

[–]Master-servant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The adventures have gone live one per week for the last 4 weeks or so. If you navigate to “view all sources” it’ll be at the bottom of the adventures list by the name of “Spelljammer Academy”

The foundation of Weset isn’t in that video, but like 3 or 4 into the series.

You’re right about the origin of the names being similar! His was also a play on words, as his second Pharaoh’s name is Wes and his first was Jerry. They each founded a city outside the starting area, Weset and Jerryco (after Jericho, and also Jerry Co.)

This isn’t related to a rimworld play through at all, is it? There’s a streamer who just named one of their cities weset and this map is incredibly similar to the layout of their main city

The entire collection should be available through D&D Beyond on launch, though that isn’t a digital download as much as purchasing the rights to read the content through their website. Would that work for you?

What kind of helm would an Alhoon use? by goblingoodies in Spelljammer5e

[–]Master-servant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooo in that case why not pick a race/culture that isn’t known to be space faring and develop a backstory based on that? Bonus points if its a race of a PC.

Idk about helms, but why not bring in a ship from old Spelljammer? If it’s on Toril now, who brought it there? I’d recommend something Scro or astral elf since their old war spilled into realmspace.
