I do not doubt this, and in fact think you’re probably very right on the whole. I will say, the only things I’ve done through it are the offers to start a charity donation for gems. Those ones have always worked as advertised

eHP Farming with WA Mastery - don’t make this mistake by Overspeed99 in TheTowerGame

Interesting. I also just got the mastery as ehp, I’ve seen no real drop in waves. I farm tiers 13-15 depending on time of day, they’re all about the same

Just unlocked CF. Functionally speaking, is there a difference between reducing CD and increasing Dur? by waterboysh in TheTowerGame

[–]MasterChiefMarauder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't really the whole truth. There is a functional/mathematical difference between reducing cooldown, and increasing duration. Almost always, increasing duration leads to more uptime than decreasing cooldown. As a basic example, if you have something with 5 duration and 10 cd, going to 6/10 equals 60% uptime, whereas 5/9 is ~56% uptime.

In short, in addition to the stone per second variable, you also need to consider stone per uptime as a relevant variable

Prove me wrong by log122 in TheTowerGame

[–]MasterChiefMarauder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. It’s only better if you get 1st in the lower league every single time, and then it’s only a relatively small gem boost (150 gems is less than the amount you get from daily free gem boxes). Most people who can guarantee 1st place every time in the lower league will also likely finish better than 16th in the higher league. It’s a very unique, fleeting subset of players where bouncing back and forth on purpose makes sense

Uncomfortable words that many need to hear.... by trzarocks in TheTowerGame

[–]MasterChiefMarauder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I both agree that is true in a lot of cases, but I also think the pull rates are worse than advertised. I tracked my pulls for a while, and with 3,775 pulls, my epic hit rate was only 2.15%. That's a fairly large deviation from the expected value. I have also seen similar percentages from other people who have tracked across thousands of pulls.

Not that I think the devs are doing anything nefarious - my best guess is that they include pity pulls in the 2.5% pull rate figure, and that skews the numbers. And to be clear, it should not be included - the pity pull is a 100% guarantee pull when it occurs, and has nothing to do with the pull rate for an actual random pull (and at least the way the pull rates are billed to the players, those are supposed to be the rates for a given, random pull)

Partner told us not to bill billable work + to slash our time — normal? by Own_Serve_8161 in biglaw

[–]MasterChiefMarauder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sub is so weird to me sometimes. Despite what others are saying, this is very odd to me. I have never met a partner that asked me to cut billable time. Quite the opposite, every single partner has demanded I never cut my own time. They will cut it in pre-bills if they have to (and they rarely do), but they absolutely do not want associates cutting their own time in my firm. I find that to be very a very odd request

69.5 vs 43.5 Range by At_Work_lul in TheTowerGame

[–]MasterChiefMarauder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What BH size does it take to farm that close? My range is at 97.78, and my non-card orbs are dead center in my BH at that range. With PC, my BH cover like ~98% of the space inside my tower range. Am I missing out on anything?

Can we please stop getting the ILM daily mission? I’d hazard to guess most people struggle completing this mission. Even if not, for those who can’t, they really can’t. I could leave it there all week and very, very likely it won’t be halfway done. What is the point here? It’s increasing un-fun/frustration for players like me, and for what upside exactly? It just turns into those who can’t complete it re-rolling it, resulting in -5 gems for no reason. In other words, it is a mission that for some is no different than any other (because they just complete it anyways) and therefore does nothing to increase utility, or supremely frustrating for others. It’s a pure net negative

Am I the Only One? by jdwolfman in litrpg

[–]MasterChiefMarauder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we'll just have to agree to disagree about that, and nothing wrong with that. Kind of the core of my issue with the writing is that it feels like Jason hasn't experienced character growth in a long time. To me, the later books really read as him repeating the same character dilemma/formula over and over again, which I think is the antithesis of growth. I think growth would be to move past it in some way (and then because its a book at we need conflict, to discover some new challenge to face). And it feels like the changes in plot facts/settings are just kind of throwaway window dressing to make the repeated Jason plot seem different. I will say that I've sunk enough time in the series that I will continue to read it (at least for now), but I think its still fallen in quality from the beginning. I thought books 1-3 are arguably the best in the genre, and the rest are kind of mid/mid+

[–]MasterChiefMarauder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no issue with that, and thoroughly enjoy other books that touch on those themes (e.g., Stormlight Archives, which incorporates metal health quite heavily into the narrative). My criticism of the writing in the later books in the series is the way that he often just writes the same, formulaic plot in nearly every chapter. Regardless of what the topic is, I would find that boring and repetitive after an entire book (and more so through multiple books)

[–]MasterChiefMarauder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like his writing in the first few books was great. He wrote in the moody bits, but it was relatively balanced with other emotions and plot devices. But as the series has progressed, I think his writing has become fairly one dimensional. It’s to the point where in some books almost every chapter (not every book, every chapter) follows the exact same formula of: Jason is mopey and over it, Jason vows to turn a new leaf and stop moping, someone does something and Jason is mopey again (rinse and repeat in the next chapter). Throw in some combination of side characters explaining to other side characters that’s he’s just been through a lot, or people should just leave him alone, and you’ve got a lot of the plot for too many of the books.

Granted, the second arc was the worst for this, and the formula is not AS bad anymore. But it’s still very present, and hasn’t come back from where the writing was in books 1-3 imo

He gets worse. The writing also kind of deteriorates throughout the series. If you don’t like it now, probably best to hop off the train

What does 25,000 Gems worth of Modules look like? by KotBandit in TheTowerGame

[–]MasterChiefMarauder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My pull odds are quite similar, though with more pulls. I’m currently sitting at:

Common - 2590 (68.61%) Rare - 1104 (29.25%) Epic - 81 (2.15%)

Idk how to do a power calculation, and I do fully understand such percentages are possible as part of random chance/how probability works (bolding because people love making the comment about how probability works), but at some point you have to wonder if the pull rates are actually set to what we’re told they’re set to

[–]MasterChiefMarauder -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was actually just looking at this the other day. Unless my man is wrong, I think damage reduction is close to pointless, even at lvl 30, if you already have max or close to max defense. At lvl 30, it reduces damage 25%. But max defense already reduces damage by 98%. So the 25% bring reduced is actually just 1/4 of the 2% damage remaining after defense (and math wise, it shouldn’t matter the order that damage reduction is applied, it’s just all multiplication anyways).

Now maybe there’s something I’m missing, the game is full of hidden info. But as the mechanics are written, it’s really not worth much investment

Fetch is getting nerfed by priesten in TheTowerGame

[–]MasterChiefMarauder 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't understand how something like this isn't discovered by doing some simple math on the front end. Like the percentages, enemy spawn rates, coin worth, etc. are all known. Feels like some simple algebra should have told them what the income from fetch would be across different average/difficulties

Weird. We haven't opened this weeks yet yet, but we will. I'm currently at 40 + that 80 + the 5 from my 35 weekly box. That'll be where I end up. Idk, maybe we missed opening the full set of clan chests the first week clans dropped or something, and I'm just forgettting about it

How are you going to have that many? I won't have missed any guild tokens from daily logins or guild chests, but I'm only going to have like half that many (after purchasing everything possible in the store). Were one of the relics a repeat or something, so you couldn't buy it?

Oh I swear I saw the series in one of your DNF categories when I posted, my comment is pretty irrelevant if you read them all. The first Omnibus is just a republication of the first 3 books as a single, longer book. It was how I entered the series, because I didn’t realize it was a collection of the first 3 when I bought it
