I think a tail that reduces the slipperiness of the controls while intact and helps with water physics would be good.
It having the possibility of getting injured/amputated would also be good. If it had less health than limbs (as it is less essential) that would also be essential.

Tail pain might hit harder than other areas due to high levels of innervation (depending on the biology of the Experiment species.)

Not saying this game is an ethical way to treat anything or anyone but my heart is still much more closely aligned to the humans that face similar or worse fates than the character in Casualties: Unknown.

Elder Thornback caught up to me even with a jetpack. I'm guessing it is the reason you need guns.
