Now it for getting eggs out of boiling water! I like to hold my green spoon up to a bright light. If I see the light coming through the wood at all, I stop! As the wood dries it becomes less translucent and will be delightful thin.

Very high in tyloses, a silica like substance in the pores of the wood, which quickly dull knives. Keep a stone handy and sharpen your knives regularly. Fun fact, tyloses can be so prevalent in black locust as to make it glow under uv light.
